Default Looking for a cradle/ transport stand idea

Just looking for a few ideas on a stand/cradle for bigger stuff (100cc). Anyone have any ideas of a stand that might be useful during transport as well. I have a full size pick-up to tote it in but would prefer to have a stand too! I"m thinking that PVC would be the easiest but am up for making anything as long as it will help protect my planes.

As always, thanks!

Default RE: Looking for a cradle/ transport stand idea

Just saw this post so I thought I'd mention what I do. Oh, are you able to park right by the flight line & drive into the pit area ? We're fortunate enough to be able to do that at our field so I have my gas plane bungy corded down on a piece of plywood made to fit pretty snug in my truck. Then I can open the tailgate & pull the wood & plane out far enough to mount the wings on, or refuel or whatever. Though also I have a tripod with a U-shaped mount to fit around the tail or to support the tail if I want to just pull the plane out leaving the mains in the truck & the tail on this support. Tripods all take a quarter by 20 nut, so I mounted the nut in a piece of wood with two upright dowels wrapped with pipe insulation. Maybe a PVC made leg could support the wood when you pull the wood out as far as you would need it to work on the plane. Just sort of how I do it & may not work for you or I haven't explained it too good !!
Thanks, John
