Default Extreme Flight 110" Electric Yak

Thought you guys might enjoy these pictures.....I'm building this for a guy and being a gas guy myself, I'm amazed at how much power this set-up puts out! Flies on 4 6S lipos...200 amp ESC...This is going to be awesome...May have to build myself one...

Can you elaborate on the set-up a little more? I think it's hilarious that he went with Turnigy stuff on such a big, expensive plane....but I'd love to know how well it works.

Just saw these pics in the other 110" thread. You are close to me, I am in the New Albany, IN area. I had not heard of anyone around electrifying one of these.

I've used Turnigy stuff with excellent results. Why over pay if you don't have to?

Haha, I agree....but it's still funny to see Turnigy on a $1000 airframe with $700 in servos with Turnigy on it. I'm dying to see the all-up cost of this plane compared to a DA-100-powered plane (or a DLE-111 powered plane for that matter). I guess I can just do the research myself...but that's too much work .

I'm just trying to figure out if it'd be worth it to me to go electric on a plane that size. I know that you can set-up 40-sized planes for next to nothing with HobbyCity electric equipment. I've always liked the idea of a HUGE electric plane....but I like the ability to fly back-to-back flights without having $4000 in batteries just to fly 4 times in a day. For that price, I'll buy a whole new airplane and fly both of them 4 times a day.

Also, DLE is nearly a name-brand engine nowadays. People trust DLE as much s DA in some areas. In fact, there's a lot of proof out there that the DLE's out-perform DA's by a slight margin. Turnigy products have mixed reviews and are commonly accepted to be acceptably sub-par because of the fantastic price.

FYI...The 6S 5000 mah lipo's from Hobbycity are $60.00 each. So you have $240.00 in lipo's, motor is now $99.00, 200amp esc is $199.00. Not trying to start something here....Just stating this to be an option for flyers who want something different...and looks to be less expensive up front. We'll se how the plane performs when completed...May just surprise some people...And some will find something negative in what ever happens.....
