I've had 41% and 35% Extra 300 and Cap 232 they are awesome planes. And easy on the wallet as well!

Aeroworks Extra260 & Edge 540 50CC Love them both...........
Aeroworks built tough a little heavier than some / worth the extra money.

Mike - You might want to try reading the build threads of the aircraft your considering. That might give you some unbiased information to make an evaluation. There are a lot of aircraft in the 50cc class to choose from so you have a fun choice to make.

I second the above comment. Usually these things turn into brand wars, go with what you like! Your the one who has to fly it.

just to make it more easy, you can see:

Aeroworks
Toc
Pilot RC
3Dhobbyshop
Extreme flight
Wildhare
Pau

And some others but you said about not spend money on this. I can say, i was saying the same thing a few months ago....and im glad i went to the best electronics(servos, regulators, opto kills, li-ions, etc) cause when you turn back you have already spent money on it, so is better to go safe.
Aeroworks has sale right now, the Extra 300, 260 and Edge are amazing airplanes, but you cant go wrong with wildhare or pilot rc either.

good look Mike....Pilot RC looks really great, love the colors. Invest in a very good electronics so you can use them later in other airplane or at least help you to fly really smooth.

the pilot brand is a good choice. They are a break away Co from SD that Ace is marketing now as the TOC line. Valley View is selling the TOC and Troy built is doing the Pilot. Both good Co's, and not much difference in price. Aeroworks comes in the box with more stuff complete, and is a Great Co to work with. They are all nice and all good flyers. Extream Flight is another to look at

A friend of mine has the WH Extra 30% & it is very capable 3-D huckster, nice lines too & nice & light, a DA50 is more than enough for this 15lbs frame. Consider yourself lucky, there are so many great choices in the 30% class today, its hard to go wrong! Get one of each!!!!! The only down side is the weight, a little light for windy day hucking DOD, the 18lb'ers are a little better in wind. I know, lightness was supposed to be the ticket, but there are other things to consider besides wing loading.
