Default PLEASE HELP (Lithium Ion Batteries)

I just purchased a used aircraft, I know the general rule of thumb here is to replace any thing that theres some question about , But I really hate to throw good batteries packs away if they dont need to be thrown away. And I would love to know anyway for future refference , can anyone tell me how to check these packs out to see if they are any good or not, they are the 7.4 2400mah Lithium Ion Batteries packs , I have 4 of them that I need to check out . I have no proublem buying new ones if they in fact need to be replaced . But still would like to know how to be able to tell if they need replaced or not.

Do you have an appropriate charger for them ?

Have you check the voltage on them ?
Do they look intact, no swelling or damage ?

Charge them and see how long they hold a charge after some use.

Yep... in my experience, they just won't hold a charge for quite as long.......

do you know how old they are?

well, charge them...ans see the final volt on the accu cycle, should be around 8.4V. Use them a bit and see how good holds the load.

Can anyone tell me if I have to change the regulators to use what they sell now ?

I would bench test the charged up batteries and
each regulator. Use a volt meter to read the voltage.

You can use the same regulators. I would check you batts though. I have one 2400 and two 4800 Fromeco packs that were over 3 years old last year and were still going strong. Probaly over 4 years old now that I think about it.

That is so true, Im wondering if I switch the batterie packs out to ni cads if I would really pick that much more weight up in doing so , Its a BME Edge 540 30% its weight right now with the set up as described is 16lbs, I could just take the regulaters out and switch it to a Ni cad batteries system in, with the ni cads I wouldnt need the reglators would I?

IMO, on 30% plane make sure you have enough mAh's
to power those size servos.

Don't be cheap, replace them with new Fromeco 2600's and if you are using JR type plugs from your regulator get 2 outputs from each regulator and plug into your receiver and operate worry free except for you switches. (New can of worms)

Oh Im not going Cheap here , I have two regulators with two seperate leads so I would be useing two batteries and both plug into the reciever. switches have already been installed and they are good ones. , the plane was already set up with two batteries and two regulators both will plug into my reciever. The switches already were being used with the current system, all Ive done is changed out the reciever in it. It allready has the optical kill on the system.
