Hey guys,
Just got back from Toledo and guess what DA had to show off.
The brand new release a DA 60 in the flesh. Listed weight is 3.00lbs thats just slightly more than the 2.95lbs for the DA 50.
Built in standoffs similar to the DA 85 with a wood spacer included as well.
The DA staff said its good for at least another 500rpms over the 50cc engine.
Hoping for a summer time release.
Dave

The new DA-120 is $1199, just $50 higher than the current DA-100L. So I would guess the DA-60 will be within $25-$30 of the current DA-50. Of course this is just a guess.

Yeah I was thinking about that as well.
I,ve got 4 of them at present and will most likely add a 60 to the collection.
I had planned on getting an ES Composite tuned pipe for my DA 50 Aeroworks Extra 260 combo but am going to rethink that now and may just go with a DA 60 cannister combo instead.

I bet your very close with your estimation on cost.
As for the antique, I,m not worried as the DA 50 is an excellent engine and will continue to be so for years to come.
I will get a DA 60 for my Extra just to see if the additional umph is noticeable, otherwise I,m happy with the 50's
As I stated earlier is was planning to try a tuned pipe in my Extra since I used the cannister I had in that plane for my new Edge 540 and have to either buy a new one or get a pipe for it.
Who knows I may just get a pipe for the 50 plus a 60 on a can and compare the two of them side by side.
Either way its nice to have options.

Woohoo!
Well done to Dave and the boys at Desert Aircraft [sm=thumbs_up.gif]
Should pack some real punch!! [sm=punching.gif]
I wouldn't say the DA50 is an antique. Its a proven platform for people who want a reliable 50cc engine.

One thing I noticed. The DA-50 pipe will not work on the DA-60. So add the cost of a new pipe if you are swapping up to one of these.

The header from the 120 will not work as it is mounted with exhaust ports down, where as the mounting of the 60 will require the header to bolt to the side of the cylinder and use a wrap around header shape. Pipes will be fine but header must be different.

Any real idea when it will be for sale?

I would not expect that you'd see anything here from DA either, it'll have to come from someone who's seen it on another forum.
When the 120 rumors were flying around, DA had said they'd make an official announcement over on FG but they didn't acutally do that in a manner you'd suspect like a new thread or something. One of the DA guys just mentioned in an existing thread that they were taking backorders and that was several days after they actually started taking them.
