I have the plane and have been looking at the DLE 30cc, has anyone used this combo and are you using the side or rear carb engine.

well you cant use the dle rear carb which is the new design and more smooth engine on the pilot cause you will need to make hole on the firewall. Peakmodel has the new version which is ready for the DLE30 V2.

Actually the later kits come with aluminum angle braces and some wood parts that let you use the rear mount DLE 30

Fantastic plane by the way, I love its big brother, my 50cc version

I purchased the 30cc Sbach 342 from RedwingRC and I am using the DLE 30.

http://www.redwingrc.com/planes/sbach.html

I have version 1 of the DLE 30 but I bought the rear carb conversion kit and mounted it to the engine before the plane arrived.

Anyway, you can mount the DLE 30 in this plane without any fuss, its a perfect match and it doesnt matter what version of the DLE 30 your using.
It will cowl perfectly, with side carb or rear carb, you just need to cut a small opening in the cowl for the muffler.

The DLE 30 flies this plane with really good authority, my first gasser and my favorite plane by far.
The plane and the engine are a perfect match, pretty tough to get a cleaner install.

You need to enlarge the hole in the firewall to 2" and trim the sides until the carb will go through. We also had to take out the idle stop screw and hacked off it's unused bracket from the carb. Waiting on the 30mm standoffs from a V1 engine and we should be golden. Stay tuned....

I purchased the DLE 30 rear carb and moved the firewall back to fit the engine length, just received the 2 1/4" stand-offs to mount the engine. Have to move the firewall back about 1 1/8". The new version from Troy Built that my friend has came with the firewall moved back for the new rear carb DLE.

Th owner purchased a V2 engine and V1 kit. We are making it work. Did not want to move the firewall so we are moving the engine back. The correct standoffs are from a V1 engine in our case. Good looking plane though!
