I just found RC Jets World a week ago and was looking at their 50cc YAK55SP and the Slick 540. Nice prices and shipping is great. From your pics the Fly Model planes look pretty good. How does the covering look? Does it look like there was enough glue used on what you can see? Is any of the hardware useable? How is the fiberglass parts, thin are thick? I have an E-flite Power 360 I'm going to use for an electric setup on 12S.

Jerry woodrough 05-16-2014 06:28 AM

I have 2 fly models planes the 30cc extra and 50cc slick and i got t osay hardware looks good and the covering is great i am really happy with the quality im not sure about the E-flite 360 but if you do go electrice please let me know i would love to see that :D and i think all the fiberglass parts are like 3 mm or bigger so i think they are good i not worried about them at all

Thanks for the info. Does the paint on the cowl and wheel pants match the covering? It would probably be this Fall before I get around to putting and electric together. Just got my H9 50cc Extra 300 (Carden Version) together with an EME 60cc. Out of money at the moment.

Jerry woodrough 05-16-2014 10:24 AM

Yup the paint matches :D

kiwibob72 05-16-2014 12:02 PM

+1 on that, the paint and covering on my green 30cc Fly Model Sbach 342 match up very well! In fact it is better on that plane than it it on my hangar 65" 9 p51 bluenose, and that P51 airframe was half as much again to buy!

Jerry woodrough 05-16-2014 12:24 PM

yup the paint is done really well :D and how do you like that sbac ?? i was thinking about getting one of those

so i got hinges instaleed servo arms and horns done now i need to mount motor rudder servo do pull pull and install reciver and i will be flying :D

Mpizpilot 05-16-2014 05:57 PM

I would add some epoxy to the firewall and landing gear area, also be sure to either locktite or find a way to secure stab screws, mine came out and that's why I lost mine.

Jerry woodrough 05-16-2014 06:05 PM

thanks for the advice i was already planing on epoxying the fir wall and stuff and doing the loctite but thanks for letting me know :D

In fairness, while complete it's still to fly.
It's quite a good looking plane if I do say so myself. Went together well, thought the 'points' on the lighting-bolts on the covering can lift very easy (fixed with a UV stable outdoor very clear tape in small selected applications), but aside from that, I'm very happy with her.
I did have to add after market rear horns since the model components only allowed for one servo per elevator where I opted to run one servo per side (the framing was made to allow for this). Lastly, the SBACH342 sticker for the left wing was not included, and the 'Thunderbolt' sticker you see was the ONLY one spelt with a "N" in the wording - I have lots of "Thuderbolt" stickers as a result!. Still, not a major, as we have a lot of vinyl printers/cutters in town so I can get it fixed simply and cheaply enough.

Watching your build with anticipation, as you have a stunning model there!

I checked the Fly-Model web site, but they don't show any prices or s/h information. Where do you find this information?

Greg

Rcjetsworld.com is the USA distributor

OldRookie 05-17-2014 04:42 AM

Thanks Mpizpilot

The prices are good and the flat rate shipping price is great for planes of this size.

Greg

OldRookie 05-17-2014 05:18 AM

Jerry,

Where did you order the red/black color scheme?
On the web site they show only the yellow/black, and the red/white color scheme.
Is the Slick suppose to have the same flying ability of the AJ Slick, or they similar in name only?

Greg

Jerry woodrough 05-17-2014 08:26 AM

Since your onto mounting the motor, I've found on both of mine that the measurement from firewall to prop washer is 6 3/8". My EME's standoffs were way long, so I just cut them down and re-tapped them instead of buying new. I've also had to cut out a good chunk of firewall to clear the choke and throttle arms.

1st pic is of the first plane, I ended up opening it up the same amount as the second picture.

Jerry woodrough 05-18-2014 05:12 PM

thanks :D yea i have all servos installed all set up and reciver in im just waiting on the muffler ignition box and stand offs for motor mount so cant wait :D
