sullivan smoke pump works part time??
 

I have a sullivan smoke pump on my new plane, it puts out good smoke when it works.It seems to quit when you level out but then I cant get it to come back on.The pump is running but nothing happens.Could this be due to the valve that that they give you with the pump.What happens if you dont run the valve in-line?Anybody have the same problem?If so what is the fix?

Do a search on "sullivan"... there's been a quite a few reports of mysterious problems with this system. I think the best solution was to put the check valve as close to the muffler as practical, instead of between the pump and tank as directed.

sounds like you are loosing prime. Maybe a second check valve helps. Put one between the muffler and pump (close to muffler), and one between the tank and pump, in order to keep a good prime.

Mine looses prime also. I run it a little before take-off and it seems to help. Run a little fluid through it as you fill your tank also. Once mine comes on in the air it usually stays.
