3.3 composite arf yak
 

I'm starting a composite ARF yak 3.3 yak with ZDZ 210, JR-DS8611 servos,duralite power bar,lithium batteries,SWB servo arms,smoke,TRU turn spinner 6inch and was wondering how much is the usual finished price i figured about 7500.00

I actually figured out what is into mine and came up with a touch over $8000. It's worth it though cause it does fly awesome.

My friend has this plane and I see it fly often, I'm not sure what he has in it but it is one of the coolest, if not the coolest RC plane I have seen fly. Except for Darcy's SX! <bg>.

Hahahhah! TOtallly, John should run some line and hooks off that tail with worms he could clear out that pond! Airlift 2005!!!
Darcy, you tell me when. I will call you. THis rain has been a pest. That would be fun if you could come and fly with us. We sure did it right last week when we had a clear day. !

What size engine do you guys have?Should I use standard mufflers or cans for a 210cc I don't want to loose power with cans I live in central Florida.

Im running a DA150 and its enough power for what I do, hover pull out is great! Im at sea level with KS1090 pipes. Awesome combo, rips the Mejzlik 32x10 pretty easy! She is a keeper.. I need another for a spare now;)

I'm finishing one too. I'm painting mine...what a dumb decision that was! I should gotten one pre-painted, it is such a pain just to have a unique scheme. I'm doing the ZDZ 210 on KS 1090's. I own a PowerBox Champion and 8611's for it, but I want to put the Hitec 5995 or 5955's in to get the servo count down. I estimated around $8-9K for mine, I don't want to know to be honest, just fly it like you don't have dime in it...

How well does the Yak 3D?Such as blenders,walls,hovers,tumbles and knife edge. How does it compare to the carden edge540 and or other edges in it's size range for 3D flying.

1, it is a do it all airframe with little to no coupling, that is fully adjustable as far as wing position, wing incedence and stab incedence. Love it.

Has anyone flown the cardenedge 540 40%, if so what plane does better 3D.Does any one know about tha DA-200 four cylinder coming out this summer

The reason I picked the Yak is because everything is down the centerline, so little mixing is required. The incidence changing gives you options which I will probably never use once they are set, but it's nice to know I can change things to zero out the trim. The 2 wing positions allow me to sequence with the wing aft, and then for freestyle, I can move the CG without adding dead weight.
The tail moment is looooooooooong, it flies SUPER smooth. The cylidrical fuselage makes it roll very continuous without any noticeable changes in AOA or roll rate. Between this and the long tail moment, it needs little rudder to KE, which means you can snap (without it getting burried), KE, and spin on low rate, which really excites me to be honest.
It presents very well in IMAC and never looks like it is out of the box, which can help sometimes when you have crossbox maneuvers and/or a crosswind. Also, the fact that they come out so heavy make them damn near immune to the wind, which is nice. And finally, when put that Big Momma down on the deck right over the runway, nothing looks cooler...

Jonathan, that reminded me of another thing, its presence, I have had a nats pattern flyer tell me how he was impressed with the way the plane presents itself in the air, and that also says something..

Not to mention when that baby comes by in a harrier there is nothing cooler;)

Dont let the weight of over 42lbs fool you, it flies sooo amazingly light on the sticks, and is a real floater, it is amazing.

In case all that wasn't enough reason, I wanted a composite plane so that I didn't have to deal with any more covering pealing up. You must be confident tht you will not hurt it though, it is not easy to repair these things like balsa/plywood planes. These planes are designed "to fly good and hold together with good landings" according to C-A, not to survive multiple hard landings.

I finally had the opportunity to fly one of these last weekend and wasn't surprised to find that it flew extremely well. I flew the 2005 Unlimited and it was very comfortable very quickly.

Having said that, I would be very pleased if CA would come out with this plane in true 40% / 3 meter / 118-120" size with a weight of about 38lbs so that you could run a 150/160cc engine on regular cannister mufflers like JMB's/MTW's, etc. The plane I flew had a 150 with the 1090's and, while power was fine to fly through the sequence, it didn't have a smooth and confidence inspiring midrange and required that I fly with the throttle at a higher setting than I am used to.

Im sure you could put in a throttle curve to make it have the stick where you want it, thats an easy fix. A smaller less expensive version may be a good idea as well.
