RE: KMP Edge 540
Hi Dan,
If you don't get enough action going with other KMP Edge owners, check out these two threads about the KMP YAK. It's the same size, designed by the same person, and will use pretty much all the same hardware and engine, etc: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_22...p%2Cyak/tm.htm http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3120187/tm.htm Bill |

Man... I've been eyeing ther Extra too... You can NOT beat the price.

RE: KMP Edge 540
The real bonus was that the Shipper messed up and actually delivered to my Alaska Address in stead of a Seattle freight forwarder that I use , Oh $45 shipping,
For half price on the plane I think that I can afford digital servos now. keep the reply coming I'll try to get pictures next |

RE: KMP Edge 540
I have a KMP Edge that I am putting together right now. It will have a DA 50 with Hitec 5645's on all surfaces except rudder which will have a Hitec 5745. The construction of mine looks real good. They also included some suprisingly good hardware including Nelson ball linkages! Only thing I am waiting on is the engine to arrive (this week) and a few other items and I'll be in the air. Woo hoo!

RE: KMP Edge 540
I plan on using a ZDZ 40 because I have one.
|
RE: KMP Edge 540
As long as you keep the plane in the 15-16lb range you should be fine.
|
RE: KMP Edge 540
I have the opportunity to pick one of these up. Anyone have a flight report? How does it fly?
|
RE: KMP Edge 540
Folks,
I have a copy of the KMP manual for th edge 540 that Tom Denney was kind enough to share. I can email it but it is a large PDF (4Mb) thx, Shane |

RE: KMP Edge 540
where is your cg at?
|
RE: KMP Edge 540
CG is at 4-3/4 inches.

RE: KMP Edge 540
OK I have a sach dolmar 4.2 for my KMP edge. My engine mount is pre-set at 4 1/4" and my engine is at 6" to the prop. Help!!!!

RE: KMP Edge 540
Your engine will work with this airplane but it is on the large end of engines for this airplane. you will need to cut the engine box to get the engine back far enough. Make sure to cut it the same amount all the way around so you will not loose the right thrust built into the engine box.

RE: KMP Edge 540
Thanks Tom. I did that a while ago and it will let me beef the fire wall up while I am re-building it. Just seemed kinda crazy to have a motor box pre set.
|
RE: KMP Edge 540
Yes I know but it doesn't take much to cut and re-install. This way you know that it is installed right.

RE: KMP Edge 540
The fire wall was no big deal. I mounted my engine like always for cg and distrobution reason. The cowl is preset too. It is way off low. I did all the motor box re-work in my wood shop at 1/100 of an inch. Now what to do to the cowl so it will be center with the motor shaft. It is around 1 1/2 down. I say in the end I will have to add spacer, re-do the blined nut placement ( will not work), have a gap which I hate or fly it with out one. The wing tube is way to tight and had to sand. what next[:@]
