anyone out there have a solution X? I just finished one, mounted my Sach 4.2 and tried to fit the Slimline Pitts style muffler, "no way" I would have to cut out half of the firewall. What other options are there, and I do not want to use a bennett manifold muffler they are much too noisy.

I DID do the mods for the Slimline... took me weeks. Then after the 4.2 never running right I went to the Harris smoke muffler. Side mount and kinda small but works great.
DON'T USE THE SLIMLINE... on my Walker 4.2 it sucked!

I had a sachs 4.2 in mine, dont remeber what I had for a pipe? Think it was a B&B. It was an older sachs and shook like mad, I pulled off the 4.2 and installed a MacMinerelli 70 twin. What size solution are you guys talking about???

I picked up a fiberglass fuse/cowl/wheel pants, and belly pan, all really thin, weight total about 3lbs. Was never started, the guy didnt know who made the fuse. I believe it to be around 30% or 1/3 scale. Is this about right for the ones you have? What did they weigh in at, wing area, power and props, etc.

This was one of those "bottomeless pits" that I just couldnt pass up. Figure since the fuse was light, empty and strong, I could build it up extremely light yet stiff (maybe 1/2 inch foam sammiched between 1/32 ply for the formers, and foam wings, reinforced with some wood sheeting.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. I can post or email some pics tomorrow if this would help in identifying the fuse.

"X" measurements
 

I can tell you that my Solution "X" fuse is 70" from the rear of the rudder to the front of the cowl. Wingspan is 77". I pretty much know what's happening in the world of Solutions... the 70", 77" and the new "XX" at 93", BUT, I have never heard of a glass fuse for one of them.

Thanks guys for the info. Madmax, I Will try to take some pics tomorrow, coworker next door has the digital camera (something about taking pics of his 33% Afford-a-plane model. lol.

I really like that simodels site, although I think I may need to put a couple of aspirin in my wallet, cause I think its gonna be hurt if I keep looking at the construction info.

I may just order the cd just to see what the airfoil and sizes are.

I will post some pics hopefully tomorrow nite.

Here are a few shots of the fiberglass fuse. It is approx 63 inches from the tip of the cowl to the edge of the fin. Adding in approx 9 inches or so for rudder (swag'n, scientific wild-*ssed guess) would make the over all length to be close to 72 inches. I think you can even see the molded in panel lines, and slot markings for the stab.

Hey Madmax, who is designing the Solution XX ? I am very interested.

Here is the thousand dollar question to anyone who knows(except Madmax, he probabbly knows the answer). What does the X mean, and was there a full scale Solution X ?

The solution got the "X" when Miles Reed Xtended the fuse and wing to a larger airframe. The original Solution had a 70" wing, the X has a 77" wing. Yes there was a real solution, the Kermit Weeks solution. I believe they built one, and it killed the test pilot in it's early flight trials.

You got the answer half and half ;-)

The X means that the Solution X was 10% bigger than the 72"

There was a Weeks Solution built but never a full scale Weeks Solutilon X

The full scale Solution flew awesome, and in it's time was the plane to beat.
It was stored in Kermits hanger in Fl. and in 1992 when hurricane Andrew blew threw, it caused the colapse of the hanger, droping the structure of the building on the Solution and crushing it.
