1/4 Marquart Charger
 

Has anyone owned or flown a 1/4 scale Marquart Charger. This kit was manufactured by Walt Moucha Models somewhere around the 1990's. How is the flight performance. My charger is gold and green with an Enya 1.2 four stroke.

Yeah, that is the one I have. Have you flown it yet? Also what engine do you have in it? It is a nice looking aircraft.

Just bought it from a guy in Missouri on RCuniverse. Have it flight ready but winds today were 20-25 mph. Not a good day to fly this beauty. The guy that sold it to me says it flys sweet. Can't wait to see. I'll let you know.

Did you know Walt Moucha is alive and well and still in the model biz in Florida?Plans are avail for 72",80" &88" Chargers,with cowl, pants, windshield, gear,& cabane wires pre bent...Also other Bipes...no web site though.....

Hey Kace how didthe Charger fly im looking at buying one here and wanted to know your opinion you bought a bveautiful plane how many flights do you have on it? hows the quadra run the one Im looking at has a quadra also

I had one for a while, very nicely built but in my opinion it was a tad heavy. I had a ST2000 for power and it flew very scale like... meaning a bit slow for me... if you are looking for an aerobatic plane... use a more powerful motor and build it light. Other than that It flew great!! I would say its a good starter biplane for someone who is just going into biplanes.

Thanks Jon,

It's used with (I think) a 1.6 Moki on it, not sure. That should be enough to get me in the air. It's my first large scale plane. I would like to go gas eventually. Which size Zenoah would you recommend if I decide to repower it?

a g26 would be nice a G38 might be too much but you will love your moki i mix my own fuel 5% nitro for about 8.00 gallon....... way more power to weight than gas.

You make your own nitro fuel Mark? How do you do that? From what I understand the Moki will suck it down.

yep for big glow they only need 5% so go buy 15% supertiger blend and cut it one gallon to one gallon of methanol (purchased in 5 gal jugs for 35.00) add some klotz and youre good....

a local fuel /oil depot for commercial but the have a will call and will sell to the public. SOCAL fuels.

I have two of WALT 'S 1/4 SCALE marquart charger kits.. one has been framed up and the other is in an Un-Opened box. i also have a Full scale MA-5 and was honered to have owned the first flying prototype for several years ( N 7148 ) built by Oscar Tombolato

If anyone is interested in one of the models as well as a very colorfull full scale to replicate...let me know [email protected]

I would have to open a " Never opened" kit to look at the plans... If no one else will give you the information I WILL OPEN the box and see what it says.I have a set of plans for my full scale from the designer...let me check and see if that wont give us some insight. that is not a problem...The full scale plans are not a " sacred as an UN-OPENED Kit

I looked at the original plans for my full scale Marquart and, regretably, there is only one page of complete aircraft with a front view and a side view and NO CG LOCATION.
I guess the plans are just to show every part of the aircraft for building...... nothing for flying. If Walt can't help you ...I cant either, BUT if you simply can't get hold of him let me know and i will """VERY CAREFULLY OPEN THE BOX AND SLIDE THE PLANS OUT".... we just won't mention it to anyone...shhhhhh lol

Well I gave Walt a call, nice guy, gave me the info I needed at no charge, I was worried he'd want me to buy a set of plans just to get the CG location. Sooo...he said the recommended CG location is at the rear strut to the fuselage attach point. I will report back after the first flight (may be a few weeks till I'm ready though). I hope someone else finds this helpful as well. He did say too that plans were still available, I think he said just under $50. His number with new area code is 772-460-6436.
