Moki 2.1 or Supertigre 3250 in 85" BIG BINGO?
 

I've got an 85" Wingspan Big Bingo kit. I'm debating if that should be my next project, OR, should I take life easy for a change and just buy a 79" Tower Space Walker ARF and a .75 GMS for a quick weekend building session???? :cool: Hmmmmm........

If I choose to build this 14-16 lb 85" Big Bingo, the old plans show a Supertigre 3000 in it. I can put the new $220 Chinese Supertigre 3250 in it, as I imagine its the same size case as the old italian 3000 except with a liitle more power. Or, I can throw a $290 Moki in it. (I won't go gas, as open gas engines are ugly IMHO)

Any of you guys familiar with the quality and performance of the new CHINESE manufactured Supertigre 3250?

Chime in if you Know anything about how the 85" Big Bingo Kits would fly on either of these engines, and how you might compare performance of this plane against a Great Planes Spacewalker.
I'm basically hoping to hear that the 4 months of building a Big Bingo will be worth the extra time and trouble, compared to a weekend long Space walker ARF ;)

You can save a lot of money on the ST 3250 if you buy one used. They go for about $125-$150 on RCU and the swap meets. Then get a perry pump and carb for about $65 for both and you will have a great running engine. If you buy it new then you still will need the carb/pump to get it to run well, then you should just get the Moki. I own a ST 3000, Moki 180, and OS 160FX and all are comperable in power. The ST is a lower rpm torque monster and likes a little bigger prop than the Moki. I found a never seen fuel 3250 for $150 so you can too.

Yep, if you buy new than the Moki is the better deal since many people end up spending $$ on a Perry pump/carb setup to replace the 3250 carb which may have a mid-range richness problem.

If you buy the ST 3250 used for 100 bucks (I've seen them that cheap), put in a new 7 dollar ring (assuming it needs one) and spend the money on a perry pump/carb you'll come out ahead on your flying budget.

Well it's nice to see that you both agree the Moki 2.1 would be a better choice. I like unanamous decisions.

After you guys alerted me to special needs going on with the Supertigre 3250, I checked the SEARCH to learn about this engine: And I concluded who needs the hassles??!!

Once you're stuck with an engine, you do what you gotta do. But why buy a fussy and problematic engine from the start?

I put a NIB ST3250 on a SIG 300SX and have never had a problem. It is all stock, just like it came from ST. Ony things I did were to use large fuel line and an OS type F plug. After setting the low speed needle properly it runs great and has never failed me.

</div><div>I purchased the Big Bingo plans from MRC and I just finished building the plane.  The wing I used balsa instead of plastic tubing for the leading edge and for the fuse I used lite ply back to the trailing edge and then hard balsa laminate to the ply.  Covered the plane with monokote.  I purchased a Satio 30 gas engine and I expect the  plane will come out below 16lbs.  The plane will be a test bed for this engine etc.  In the beginning i was going to use a G38, but weight bothered me a little with the lite ply construction and I figured that a Satio 30 ( Satio 180) would be ecomomical since the increase in glow fuel.  On utube there is a clip of a big Bingo with a US 41 that flies great.  So who knows the answer the to question what engine should be used on the Big Bingo!  Answer is comon sense.  </div>

I think after 8 years the original poster has probably decided on his engine choice.

There does seem to be a fairly large number of older designs and kits that are benefitting greatly by the availability of the new crop of lightweight gas engines.
