Default looking for a new plane for my Q-35

I have an older Quadra 35 I took out of my ziroli triplane. I am having trouble findng airplanes suitable for this engine. I have been out of the hobby for 25+ years and have the urge to build and fly again. Any assistance would be very helpful.

Not much out there except maybe a war bird.
I did the same thing a couple of years ago with a G-38.
Sold the G-38 and jumped into a DA 50............

Hi Bill05,

I too have a Q35 looking for a home... One suggestion was a Great Planes Giant Stik Arf. I had thought about it too but, just couldnt quite go that route.

Dick Saropolus drew up plans for a standoff/ fun scale Mustang for a Q35. The plans were in Flying Models magazine.

Some of the early Byron Originals Foamies were designed for the Q35 as well and few good until you spilled gasoline on them.

The G-shark was another model that would take a Quadra 35 and I think there is one in the classifieds right now.

Most of the early giant scale models & kits for the Quadra 35's have sort of faded away now so it may take some looking to find a suitable home for your engine.

I'm still looking myself.

P.S. I have seen Q35's used in Nosen Aeronca Champs and Balsa USA 1/4scale Cubs too.

Best of Luck,

Carlos G.

GP super sportster or GMP's MX2 http://www.giantmodelproducts.com/in...ashft8s16su6h6 I've seen pictures of this plane with a G38 on it and he says it's a real sunday flyer.

Something like this would be fun to build.

A nice plane to build and fly for that Q35 is the Dynaflite Decathalon. Tower hobbies sells them. Easy to build and fun to fly.

Superfli

They all look new from the ground.

I'm using my old (1970) Q35 in my TF SR-9. Plenty of power. However, I did have it 'upgraded' before using it as I wanted to ensure best perfomance. Fits well and was a good choice. Have been flying it now since '06.

pretty much any of the Balsa USA 1/4 scale kits would work for that engine. It is a bit bulkier that the newer purpose-built engines, but the Q's do run good. Most of the WWI scale planes need the weight up front anyway...

If you want to do some eBay shopping, you can find a pretty steady stream of "vintage" kits in the 1/4 scale range (like Nosen, BUSA, Sig, Ace, Concept, S2, etc) that have planes very well suited to that engine. Fleet Bipe, Citabria, Champ, Peitenpol, Cub, 4-120, and many others... Mostly, it all depends on where your tastes run for style of airplane, then what level of power performance you want to acheive.

Ryans Rebel would be perfect....its a scratch build but very easy. Look in the scratch building forum.

With me it's not the building it's the covering. I like the professional look with the arf. I could never get that good
