Large glow engine recommendation
I am not familiar with large displacement glow engines and need a recommendation for one to be used in a model that weighs around 21 lbs and has approximately 1200 square inches of wing area.

RE: Large glow engine recommendation
you can get a moki 2.10 nitro engine from aircraft modelers research in canada for $270. thats the largest nitro moto still available. they used to advertise 4.95 horsepower but now say 4.5 hp. a dle55 gas moto makes 5 hp at 7500 rpm and can turn 8500 with a large prop. the moki will make close to the 5hp but will turn 9000 to 10000 rpm with a smaller prop. depending on the type of airplane, how streamlined it is,the moki can give you more speed and performance with a nice thoaty growlingexhaust sound. the gasserwill chug along with some sputter and pop as you probaly have heard gas motos run at yourfield. you probaly never heard a large nitro moto run as they arerare because of the fuel cost and messy exhaust. the moki will also run smoother and at idle will not shake the ailerons. nitro vs gas is like apples and oranges. gasoline is not the most powerful fuel of choice, it is simply the fuel of economic choice. the most powerful engines in the world, top fuel dragsters, run on nitromethane and alchohol. If you get the big moki though you will need to have some engine tune abilities to run it and prop it correct. you will also hear many complaint about how gas is better. we learned long ago not to compare apples to oranges didn't we?

If you have a big enough cheque book , what about the Laser 360 V Twin .
This is the largest capacity glow engine I can think of and being a Laser it's also the best !
