How many rc modeling companies are still making 1/3rd scale Cubs and how can you differentiate between one company's design to others...

Even in past who manufactured them as full kits or short kits...

Search around RCU in the "Giant Scale Plane" forum. I remember a build thread or two. Dan.

From what I found

Busa
Sig
Tony-Clark
Proctor Models
Amr

Makes these big Cubs, now Sig n Proctor haven't produced it in ages n Proctor is no more around in modeling business.
What I really want to know, how sub-section designs are differ from one manufacturer to another, in terms, how wings fit on fuselage, tails planes are different then one other, if cabin n forward fuselage is different from one type to other, how can you tell who's design is who's..etc etc etc...

I'd scratch SIG off your list. They never made a 1/3 scale CUB kit.

It is very difficult to put into words how the various designs differ. If I were you, I'd do some searches on the various forums and I'm sure you can find quite a few photos of the different designs in various stages of construction. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes to find 'in the bones" photos of the BUSA and AMR kits. Quite a few write ups on the World ARF also. The AMR is probably the most modern design full kit and features laser cut parts, etc. Probably more BUSA big CUBs flying than other brands though just because they have been around so long.

You might want to consider the larger Hempel Cubs?

That's what I also thought but when I read in a thread about these big Cubs that one fellow built a Proctor kit and used Busa S Cub cowl on it n fit was perfect, that's when I. Got to know about it....

Hi, Spent lots of hours in Joe Topper's shop (Proctor Enterprises). No Cub kits.
Give Joe a call 1-503-668-8612. I did live just down the road from his shop.
Both Joe and I learned to fly (1969) at the same time in Portland Or.
Joe produces WW 1 kits only, also an Antic mono & bip.

Yeah Bill Hempell Cubs are nice designs, thanks for pointing.

The reason I started this thread was some of you guys post pics of ur models from different makers so I can see differences in between to find out who made the big Cub I'm getting as present owner have no clue or plans for it. This model is older model that needs some restoration and then complete recovering....sorry if I wasn't direct about my quarry.

Wings bolt on both sides of the fuselage and have flying wing struts. Whole tailplane is one complete unit but has triangular access hatch on one side juss under LE of the stab. Same there is another access hatch on the cabin side under one side of the windows....not sure if these features can tell who is the manufacturer who designed this models kit.

After you recover and you're ready for graphics I design and cut high quality graphics for any Cub or Super Cub. I have many color options and even the basic lightning bolt design with both the front Piper and tail bear cub logos. Wing numbers can be custom cut with a number of your choice. Send a PM for more details I have some sales right now so you can save BIG money ordering now before the flying season hits and I get too busy.
