89" span Super Decathlon - six heavy duty + 2 standard servos. LiPo receiver pack with Voltage converter? What is the more modern world using for power? Can't find anything much in the way of large NiMh or nicads. Are they a thing of the past?

G'day Mate,
LiFe, Lithium Iron Phosphate, or A123 cells, all names for the same thing, that's what I use, no voltage regulator needed, 6.4volts, per pack, no problem if servos can handle 6 volts, RX not a problem,
I use 2x 1300Ma packs, through 2 switches, in an 78" Extreme Flight Extra 300 with OS GT33 engine, & 6 high power digital servos, of course you can use 1x larger capacity battery if you like,
all you need is a charger that works with LiFe batteries, they are very common & not expensive.
Cheers

Well looks like A123's get the votes. I have a LiPo charger for 2-4 cells, will that work ? No ignition as I have a Saito 1.80 on glow (don't fly very often) Just run the A123 straight into receiver? (With on-off switch between of course)
