I just love mine, w/ 7cyl evo radial, 260cc fly's beautiful
47lbs.
i wanted to keep the rounded front, then I added a blister underneath to cover the little bit of firewall that showed.
came out real nice, after about 4 valve adjustments I have no problems, I always check the valves and I updated them
with the new push rods and pins. I adjust mine at .05 and could go as far as 9 before you would lose a push rod now
before the old style you would go 5.5 or .06 and you would lose one.

thank you for the nice comments, I am at 6000 ASL so I went with the 260cc did I need it NO, I fly about 1/4 throttle and when
I get to the end of the runway I just put it to about 3/4 and go vertical for ever. This plane would fly here just nicely on a 100cc
you won't have the vertical but it would fly very nice. so if you are thinking radial I would say the 160cc. But then again
you are not to far away for the 260cc well another 500 bucks so that is a jump that would by all your servos.
The 260cc does sound nice

Modifying the stock radial engine for better scale appearance. Will be using a RCGF-120 for cost and simplicity but need to do something about the cowl. The Williams Bros 1/4 scale Pratt & Whitney plastic kit cylinders are the same size as the stock square cowl cylinders. They get the needed diameter by oversizing the crankcase. I simply removed the square cylinders and started installing the scale WB plastic cylinders. In process of glueing in the bases with epoxy inside fiberglass case. Reinforce where needed then remove cylinders for painting & detailing. Glue back into base and complete other detailing such as push rods, plugs, wiring, exhaust etc.
Hope this helps.
Not perfect scale but better than stock I think.

The new UMS line of radial engines (same factory where evolution engines are made) have upgraded pushrods and better heat treatment on the cam lobes to prevent wear so help reduce frequent valve adjustments. They are available through CH Ignitions, the new US distributor and parts & service center in West Palm Beach, FL. Saw a bunch of new 5 & 7 & 9 cylinder offerings at the 2019 Toledo, OH Weak signals show! They will be on display at Top gun and Joe Nall events coming up this spring. chignitions.com.

I mounted a 3w 106 in my Stearman. With the big radial attached to the cowl I think I will have a heat problem as air flow is fairly restricted.
Any thoughts out there???
