balance problem
I have a giant scale 109 in taylorcraft which I built from a Lanier kit. CG is 4" and I have been encountering big problems balancing the plane. Using the horizontal tail plane for my level I have discovered a slight warp. I am not too sure what to trust here since both give different readings on the level. The warp is slight but noticable when using the level, and looking down the fuse. I have flown other planes with simiular defects and , with a little trim, they have flown fine. So I assume, from past experience, that with a little trim there should be no issues. My problem is how can I accurately balance my plane? Since I don't know what part of the tailplane is accurate can I use my angle of incidence meter to accurately balance the plane? Also, according to the level on the rear tailplane I concidered accurate I need about 2lbs of weight in the nose to balance the plane. I have put floats on which are 47in long. They protrude about 3in past the prop, any thoughts?
