Rear carb Gasser fit in a H9 Super Cub?
I've found an engine (26cc) that I want to put in a H9 100" super cub. I just bought this arf online and am still waiting for it to arrive but has anyone installed a rear carb on one? I know a g26 fits fine but its a side carb. Any help would be appreciated. Yes this Arf was discontinued a few years back but I found one on Ebay. Thanks

You will need to be more specific as to which rear carb engine you are considering... I mounted an RCS 1.40 with a Slimline pitts muffler on mine using the Dubro iso mount and it is perfect! At least the mount is perfect and the cowl is spot on. I have not yet flown it so I don't know how well it works in practice, but I don't foresee any problems as there is adequate spacing between the carb and firewall.

A 50cc motor will certainly be a mounting problem -- it won't fit the cowl and will almost certainly make the plane nose heavy. The largest engine I know of someone using on this 1.20 sized plane is a 40 cc Brison 2.4. I bought a Brison for mine, but after looking at the size of the motor, the hatchet job I would have to do to the cowl, and the weight I got the RCS 1.40 instead. BTW -- a 50cc engine will need a 21-22 inch prop at a minimum so ground clearance may be an issue as well...

The engine is a 26cc engine but is a clone of a DA 50cc in the style of it. I should have made that more clear....Sorry. It is a 26cc tho.

Okay -- that is clearly a more appropriate displacement for this plane! As for mounting -- I recall that the back of the thrust washer should be 6.25 inches from the firewall. How long is your motor? If it's less than 5.5 inches from the back of the thrust washer to the back of the carb then you should be okay. At worst you may have to enlarge the hole in the center of the firewall. The firewall is pretty stout -- mine looks like Mahogany ply -- so enlarging the hole for the carb shouldn't be a problem...

Great, Thank you very much for your time and input.....How does this bird fly? My buddy loves his but I've never really gotten in depth about his as he has just purchased his used a few months ago and he has been working out some bugs and fine tuning it. Those pics were of his bird. Thanks again

That has to be grinding on you....I wish I could snap my fingers and have one built but you know thats a far cry! I want a Balsa 1/3 or larger SC or Decathalon but I HATE building! This is all that is keeping me from owning one right now. I like tinkering and testing but cant stand building? Crazy....
