I changed o-rings to rings made from bicycle inner tube.
Four pieces to both sides.
I have now 30 flight with them and no problems.

I found this site also and I believe 3/4 should work. Might need a little sanding. 19mm= .74809 in. Close enough for me. http://www.metalsdepot.com/products/...imAcc=&aident=

These guys ( [link]http://www.fiberglassspecialtiesinc.com[/link] ) sell 1/4 scale supercub cowls for various models although not specifically for the CMPro version. Might be worth asking them if they have one which will fit. Re your flaps conversion, was it difficult. Did the rear wing rod get in the way?

21st, I thought i saw a 19mm one on there but i guess it was the 3/4 inch one.(out of stock) Dont know if you could sand that one down or not? I need to find one soon im jonesing to get my cub back out!

Inmay go with the one in the link above. What other choice do we have? Nitro planes has been giving me the same"in three or four weeks" since last August I call them every 4 weeks. I might have success with Jackie at CMPRO. I have in the past when all the distributors have not delivered

MM. How was the Maiden Flight today? Im really pissed cause I was looking forward to an RC weekend. No wind and blue skies. However In Bobs world, that cant happen. Navy called so im back out flyin again.

What a great airplane !! Did'nt have one problem. Kinda gloomy outside though. 1.20 OS is plenty of power. Absoulutly no squirrly take off's or landings. Runs straight down the centerline. Perfectly balanced too. . This one is certainly a "keeper". So why doe's the GP .0 size version like to swerve 45% after about 25 feet of take-off run ? Lastly, did nine flights today with it and consider this one well worth the cost. Anybody know where I can find a Carl Goldberg Stinson 108 ARF ?. Really do need one. MM

Hi all

My cub crashed today....
As soon as it took off, it went right and the controls didn't respond at all.
I've had so much fun flying it with a CRRC Pro 26i, but today she decided to leave me....
The only damage is on the fuselage.....
Any idea where I can get one?
If I don't find it, I'll have some parts for sale pretty soon....

Hey mal75. If your referring to the wing tube or most other parts, Nitroplanes displays them in their spare parts but if there is no"add to cart" option, they dont have it They only have the cowl and its been that way for many months.

It was quite easy. The wing seems to be flaps ready.
Rear wing rod is not in the way.

Thats awsome!! I was always worried about the rear wing tube also. This creates a whole new set of ideas burning in my head. Definitely going to do it to mine.

News flash!! KMP's L-4 Grasshopper is ,in fact, the CMP CUB!!!. Just got an e-mail back from Andrew Kondor and he has told me that he does in fact have the spare parts and will send me a price list. This includes wing tube and gear. Salvation!!!!!!!

Well, after 120+ flights, the birds landing gear just cant take the abuse anymore. The last 3 times out to the field, some metal portion of the gear has broken and each time I go have it welded. Went to the field yesterday and even the metal is to weak for the welds so I am now retrofitting a Hanger 9 gear to the Cub. Very strong, nice, and a whole lot cheaper than Robart. As you can see in the pics. #1 is one of the constant break points. Very little structure due to the hole thru it. The front brackets on the H-9 fit perfect in the CMP's holes however the rear ones need to be drilled out in the fuse.Pic 2. You have to cut 15mm of the suspension off and drill new holes so the wheels arent angled inward as the H-9 cub is a little wider. Very easy mod. Took about 2 hrs. Bob

Too big isn't it. The standard Cmpro cowl is 6.5" Wide x 7" High. I will need to scratch build one. Another item to the to do list. [sm=regular_smile.gif]

That gear sure looks nice...

I've finalized a smoke system on my cub with the Saito 125 on it. I added a 10oz tank where the pilot sits and I figure that with the weight of the smoke pump gear and all that itis close to an extra pound at take off. I'm getting about 4 minutes of good smoke. The plane still takes off within a few feet with the extra weight, the only thing is I really wish I had a Saito 180 on this plane instead. For this seasonI think I'll leave it alone and flyit as is. Hindsight I should have put some proper door hinges, bigger engine and forked over the $78 for the Great Planes Piper gear like Bob did. Absolutely love this plane, though.A lot of fun, a good looker and enjoyable to fly.

I'll post a video of the smoke as soon as I can..

Thought Id post a vid of my Cub doing a run up wiyh the H-9 gear on. Too windy to fly right now. Also, the other vid is of my prop hub mod. Very easy and cheap to make. Its a gum ball machine prize container. I filled it with epoxy, dremmeled it out, epoxied a 1/4 x 20 nylon nut in, then heated up my prop shaft and threaded the hub on and let it cool. Hi Phil,

Could you please take a picture of your smoke system and post it here? I am interested in how you connect to the engine exhaust for burning the smoke oil. Also, could you please say something about the smoke oil you are using?

Well I flew the Cub today with the H-9 gear. Not real thrilled for two reasons. 1. its way too stiff!! Just like a gear with no suspension. and 2. It is heavier than the CMP one by three fold so the battery now has to take a trip to the rear of the plane. Optimistically, I doubt that this will ever break though!! Bob

You got it.I’ve got a busy period at work ahead, but promise some video soon.The smoke was a lot of work, but worth every bit of effort.The plane handles the extra weight of the system and if anything I’d go a 12 or 14oz tank on the smoke vs. the 10 I’ve got in it now.It really pumps out a good visible train of smokeand is an attention getter.I had it out this past Saturday on the final check-off for the smoke system.Finally, the cowl is back on the plane and everything is mounted properly with the system working flawless. At first I bought SuperDri but then at the Toledo show I picked up a case of B&B Specialties/Bennett’s smoke oil for cost reasons, I couldn’t pass up $14/gallon vs. $25 for the SuperDri at LHS.I only had a couple test flights on the SuperDri and now quite a few on the Bennett’s.I want to say that SuperDri maybe just a bit better, but not to justify the cost, especially at the rate that I’m burning 10oz per flight. I'm just about out of my first gallon of Bennetts.
I was struggling with the Cub running the 16x6 MA on the Saito 125.It was OK without the weight of the smoke system, but I never really felt like it had enough power to really pull through a loop and then with the additional weight it struggled not in lift or aircraft, but to pull itself around.I’ve since changed to a 16x4W APC and remarkably I don’t even question the power anymore. I should have never been running a 16x6 with this plane and engine.The 4W does get a little ofthat tip speed noise on occasion, but it’s forgivable as the engine really swings it good and it’s all about thrust on this plane, not speed.It has plenty of power and pull with that prop to pull that plane with full tanks of nitro and smoke oil through a loop and just about hover.
I’m using a small pump from a Swiffer Sweeper floor mop and a speed controller.I mix the speed controller onto a switch and a digital slider on my Aurora A-9.So when I hit the switch the motor runs at the speed I dialed in to get the right amount of oil delivered to the exhaust header.I drilled and tapped the exhaust header just above the bend toward the head on the Saito.From there I also wrapped some small copper tube around the header about 8 times to serve as pre-heat.You can find this in a Pep Boys or similar type store. I basted that copper tube in red high temp RTV and then wrapped it with high temp rubber tape in order to insulate from the outside air. I put some spacer material to raise the plywood sheet where the pilot mounts.Underneath that sheet I have a 10oz tank with a two line system.One line goes to a Robart fueler; then to a check valve and then to the copper tube and eventually to the fitting going into the header.The other line goes to a vent overboard so when I overfill the tank it squirts out the side just a bit.The small motor and pump unit is mounted to the underside of the forward ply sheeting inside the cockpit.It took work to find a speed controller that would work off of a 5 cell NiMh pack.I feed the speed controller off of the 2700mAh receiver pack.However I use a regulator to feed the receiver.I use 5 cell packs and regulators on all my 2.4 to avoid the catastrophic voltage sag scenarios.The current usage from the pump is minimal as the motor is barely working when running.After a full day’s worth of flying with smoke every flight I may burn 1-1.5amp out of that pack.A self contained Sulivan or similar unit would be a lot easier if you want to fork over the funds.I just had extra parts laying around.
This plane is the best $200 I’ve spent on a plane in this hobby.A lot of people will look at a Cub and joke or think how boring it is or some other notion.But really, this plane is a lot of fun to fly and takes more skill than most people would assume.
