Hey Lou,

Who sells the plans for this blown up version. I would love to have one to go with my 1/4 scale F4F wildcat that i have.

Do you still have all the mold for the various parts you had to make? Like the cowl, gear covers and the canopy.

Hi Greg:
I blew them up from Ziroli’s Hellcat plans. It went from 4 sheets to 6. I made some modification on the plans to accept the gear and remove the wing tube. I also made a plug for the cowl and canopy. I gave it all to Nick Ziroli Jr. He made me a cowl from my plug and pulled a canopy. Call Mike Gross at Ziroli Plans. He can give you a copy along with a cowl and canopy. Darrel made the gear for me. It is really robust and uses a pair of bevel gears to do the turn.

On the other fiberglass parts like strut covers I made them one off using pink foam. It didn't take much I just made the bump for the strut cover. Then had a sheet of plastic over the bottom of the sheeted center section and layed up glass cloth over it. I think earlier in the built I have pictures of this.

Its funny that I just got back from the field and flew it today. I’m holding on each wing with a single long #8 socket head cap screw. It doesn’t look like it would be strong enough but we calculated that it is good for close to 2,000 pounds of force in the center of the wing before it will fail. I think other things will break first :-).

Thanks Lou!!!

I will give Mike a call when the time comes. I'd also like to do a larger Bearcat some day also. Then i'd have the full single engine cat family...

Here is a picture of my Wildcat that i still have to test fly soon.

Hi Greg:

You are well known for the beautiful work you do. Your Wildcat is awesome!

I think 3W makes a scale all composite Bearcat that will take the Moki Radial. If you want to go an easy route with the Hellcat someone makes a 110” all composite one. A fellow I’ve been emailing has one and he used the DLE 220 quad in his. His name is Kevin Paulson. I hope he does not mind me posting his photo below. If your interested I will let Kevin contact you.

My first scratch build was the Ziroli Bearcat. I did not know much about scale and painted it Dodge Viper Metallic Blue.

Lou,

If you could have Kevin send me the Info on the Hellcat so i can do some investigating on the kit. It would be much appreciated.

He can send the info to my Email at banditdrvr@hotmail.com

Also i could have bought a 3W bearcat kit if i wanted too from Dave Malchione Jr. I passed on it because i would really like the scale gear for it but there aren't any out there that work in the plane. I have a Ziroli kit in the box still and i do have the scale gear for it from Darryl at Sierra Giant scale. I have thought about building it and putting a Moki180 in it.

Hi Greg:

I'll let Kevin contact you.

I saw Dave's Bearcat fly at Warbirds over Delaware it flew really nice. I upgraded my Bearcat with Darrell gear. Here are some photos of it at:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/gian...ml#post9045598

It would be a lot easier to set it up for his gear when building it at the start though.

The Moki 180 which is the same size as the 150 would fit fine in the Bearcat. One of our club members built the Hellcat with the 150 and it sounds just like the 250.

I had my Hellcat stored away but last week I took it out to fly again. It is still rock solid after the initial trimming. Of course the iGyro helps a lot. One of my club members Vic took some nice photos of it in action.
