1/4 Scale Cub Question
I have bought a completed SIG 1/4 scale cub that has standard Futaba servos installed, for just slow normal cub flying do you think these are sufficiant or should I put 1/4 scale servos on the flight controls?
I hate to buy big servos at 30 or 40 bucks each when I have a bunch of new Futaba 3001's laying around. I will be using a 6 volt pack by the way... Thanks |
RE: 1/4 Scale Cub Question
I have a BUSA 1/4 Cub with standard servos on everything but the rudder which actuates the tailwheel too, so I use a 3302 on that. It weighs 18lbs. with an XYZ 26cc engine. I really horse it around, one wheel take-offs and landings, roll 10-15ft. and yank it off the ground, that kind of stuff and have zero problems. Its really a blast to fly and I enjoy just floating around the sky too. Great flying airplane. You will have no problems with standard servos, enjoy it..

RE: 1/4 Scale Cub Question
If you are worried about power, the best buy anywhere is the Hitec HS-645BB it has 106 oz on 4.8v and 133 oz on 6v. And you can buy them for $26.82 when you buy four at a time. Unless I am building something requiring mini servos, they are the only ones I buy.

RE: 1/4 Scale Cub Question
I have a Sig 1/4 Cub and it has standard servos though out. Unless your going to be doing stunts ( if it is a clipped wing) you will not have any problem with the standards.

RE: 1/4 Scale Cub Question
Awsome, Thanks i feel alot better.
I got a great deal on it, the old guy couldnt fly anymore and sold it to me for $125.00 It is doped and fabric covered with a Zenoah G23 that looks new. The paint is faded and needs to be redone but you can tell this plane has never had even the slightest hanger rash or crash. |
RE: 1/4 Scale Cub Question
Faded is real cool... it looks... like a real Cub you might find at a small airport! I would not change a thing. I have a B-USA with G23 - a real good combo IMO. Have fun!

Here is my Bud Nolsen 1/4 scale I am working on, it has a Satio 150 4-stroke for power with on board glow, scale gear, light system and big tires like a bush plane. Come on warm weather !!!

RE: 1/4 Scale Cub Question
Doug, is the Bud Nolson 1/4 Super Cub built from planes, is a kit/short kit available?
|
RE: 1/4 Scale Cub Question
The planes from Bud Nolsen were all kits and I don't know if anything is still being made. There are guys on here that could tell you more but I just don't know. You could look them up on Google to see if they have a web site.

RE: 1/4 Scale Cub Question
Would you guys recommend a 2-stroke, 4-stroke or a gas engine for a 1/4 scale hanger 9 piper cub?
|
RE: 1/4 Scale Cub Question
I would say either a 4-stroke or a gas
|
RE: 1/4 Scale Cub Question
A plane that size Gas would be the best because a big enough 4 stroke or a 2 stroke would drink you in the poor house paying for glow fuel....
|
RE: 1/4 Scale Cub Question
PC-4I agree with the other guys here. I have a Sig 1/4 scale that originally flew with a Saito 1.80. Plenty of power, but man does that engine like fuel! I went to a RCGF 26 gasser and couldn't be happier.
