top flite p-51 giant scale

I'm putting a DLE 50 rear carb in my P-51, The carb is right in the center of where the fuel tank goes. I got the throttle hook up working ok, does anyone have some pictures of what they did for the choke. ie belcrank or servo activation, Thanks

Art,

I'm not sure why your carb is in the fuse. My DLE is on standoffs ( not sure what size, I think it was stock) mount to the fire wall with 1 1/2 prop hub Igot from Sierra. My carb is outside the firewall Is there a reason why
you mounted the engine so far back? My Mustang is put away for the winter in my trailer, or I would get you some set up pics. What you are doing will work, for the choke I use just a standard servo (3004)
with a direct rod. You should use carb linkage extenders ,I got mine from Valley View, this offsets the chkoe from the throttle for and easier conection.

Sorry about the confusion, My Dle is mounted on the standoffs. Looking down on the engine/fuselage the carb is in the center of the of the fuselage and just infront of the firewall, maybe one inch space. The tank is centered on the inside of the fuselage preventing a strait pushrod run to the choke. I used a throttle extender on the throttle as the throttle arm was screwed on. I had planned on putting a ball link on the choke too. The choke arm is fixed on and I didn't really want to break the arm off if I didn't have to. I had thought about some sort of bell-crank system and mechanical push pull out the bottom by fire-wall.

Is your choke servo on the fire wall? I'm using a pitts style muffler designed for the Mustang.

Thanks for your reply

Inwina,

How did you get the correct right thrust with the carb located on the center of the firewall? On all the TF GS P-51s I have been associated with, mine and others, the carb is off-set to the left to allow the prop shaft / spinner to align with the cowl with proper right thrust applied.

Art,

My throttle servo is mounted behind the firewall on the left side if the fuse.

My throttle servo is located on the left side as indicated in the instructions.
