Bulldog I build
2 Attachment(s)
This build is for Squirrly (AKA) Jeff, the kit is an EMHW Pitts S1-S, it will be a kit build with no mods and finished in Jim Leroy's Bulldog I scheme.
Being as most of the build photos of my Pitts got deleted I will document this build as detailed. So, here we are with the kit removed from the box. |
Wow sure don't look like much out of the box. Have fun building it Robert or Mr Pitts as I will start calling you from now on lol
|
Robert you should have my last name
Yeah it's the "Pitts" Ken |
Subscribed and along for the ride.
|
Me too

Great to have everyone aboard. This will be somewhat of a rerun but without all the scale stuff.
The wood has been sorted and the base halves for the fuse formers have been screwed to the table. Even though I mark the center line of each half a laser ensures it's strait. |
Wouldn't miss this!

I cut the fuse formers out of their respective trees and sanded them, then glued in the gear doubler and fuse front sides.

The fuse formers are glued in place to the base with the exception of one where a square sits. I am going to let all these parts sit for a while to cure.
|
This should be a top model as all your builds are ...
with no mods and finished as Jim Leroy's Bulldog I. |
No I am not, Jeff want's the S1-S in the Bulldog scheme and that is what he is going to get.
|
I'm in.
Ace, didn't you just wrap up another Pitts build? |
I will be starting the work on the canopy tomorrow and all that will be left after that is building the figure's body and painting a prop to match.

The nose is on as well as the engine mount. The engine mount will need some mods to fit the motor. Jeff, I need some 1/4" plywood for the engine mount mod. The engine box gets glassed but I will have to wait until the ply doubler has been added and the engine blind nuts installed.

Wouldn't miss this build for the world...subscribed

Bulkheads for the fuel tanks and the platform for the servos and fin are in.
|
By the time you do the 3rd one you will be able to do it with your eyes closed.
|
DUDE! At 11:20AM you posted a pic of "Wood out of the box". It already almost looks like a Pitts . Ok, Ok, Mr. Pitts it is! You know I wouldnt miss it.
|
Da Gone, Robert
You could move to China and become director of the Pitts ARF division. A month later that division would be wiping so many out we could all have a Pitts for Peanuts. ;) Kevin |
You guys are hilarious. As usual this is the quick part of a build, the framing up, but this one should be quick all the way through with not having any scale mods to make. The wife asked me this morning how long I thought it would take on this one? I said "I believe I will have it done and shipped within four months", time will tell.

Are you sure he doesn't want it with open cockpit? I really really love the look of an open cockpit S1... |
I like the open cockpit as well. My little one is that way and my Bulldog 2 will be that way. If the Red Eagle was not a "Scale" build it would have been open. Open also makes accessing switches and batteries much, much, easier.
