Top Flite Giant Cessna Engine choice.
Hi folks!
I am building the TF Giant Cessna. Just finished the wing and ready to start the fuse. I plan to cover it with Ultracote. I have read the Cessna build threads which have helped me avoid some issues with the kit. I have a few questions about engine choices. i currently have on hand three engines; a Supertigre .91 with a Pitts muffler, A brand new Magnum .91FS and a Saito 100 FS. Which has more power; a 91 two stroke or a 91 four stroke? Some posts say that a 91fs will fly it at 1/2 throttle while others have said that the 91fs will fly it but won't get you out of trouble. i want to overpower it a bit for the reason mentioned above. Please reply only if you have experience with this plane, no guessing please. Thank you in advance. |
I'm not a fan of 2 strokes, especially in scale models.
Many fly the TF Cessna 182 with .91 4 strokes, which are roughly equivalent to a .60, 2 stroke. I've never understood that "get out of trouble" argument. Install the engine that makes you comfortable, but I suggest one of the 4 strokes that you have mentioned. |
