Control surface throws unknown

I have a 1/4 scale used Areonca that I've been working and since I don't have instructions I don't know where to start with the control surface deflections. I'm looking for a starting point which will give me enough control to safely fly. If I can achieve that then I can adjust it to my desired preferences. Help!
