what servos
 

I just crashed my dynaflite suer decathlon on the first flight ------- was useing two Hitec HS-475HB sevros on the elevator and one striped ---[ no more plane ] ........I have built two other gas planes but not flown them yet with the same type servos [ these our G-38 engiines ] what should I use , can't afford the expencive servos . are the resin gears able to be replaced with nylon gears ??
any help appreciaten , hate to give up on gas engines so soon . thanks bob

HS-475HB = $16.99 each

Hitec HS-645MG High-Torque 2BB Metal Gear Servo = $35.99 each

or about $20 more per servo.

The trick with the Gasoline powered engines is to stay away from plastic gears and stay with metal gear servos of ample ability.

So you might spend an extra $100 more on servos but ask if it will cost more than 100 to repair/replace your broken plane.

I'm pretty sure that karbonite gears and vibrating "gas engines" are a serious no-no[X(]. The 645mg servos are the way to go if you're on a tight budget. I would pull those "karbonite" geared servos out of your other gas planes YESTERDAY and install them in your glow or electric planes preferably under 12lbs. for safety. I have a set in a .46 size profile and they are fine for that application.

Definately agree with the above,no nylon or karbo gears for your plane,or the G38 ones..
The 645's are old school,reliable,tough and affordable.I have heard guys with G 62's running them.You can put them on 6 volt for extra power without any issues.They tend to get some play in them after a bit,but for sport use its not an issue.
