Hi,

I moved your thread here to a more appropriate forum so that it will get better focus.

I am looking at the Great Planes Old Timer .40 Sport kit here.

It is a good size plane and should be fun to convert to quiet and clean electric power.

One possibility is to use an Astro Flight 625G geared Cobalt motor. It will fit in the same footprint as the intended .40 size glow engine and even have the prop shaft offset into the cowl. You can likely strap it onto the existing motor mount with large tywraps or an inexpensive car hose clamp.

I would use 16 cells on an APC 12x8 e-prop for awesome takeoff power and then throttle back for normal cruising. These Astro Flight Cobalt motors last forever!

Check out the "Mounting the Motor" section of my Extra 300S Conversion page for further details.

Good luck!

Yes I do. Please tell Azarr I said "hi". Perhaps he will stop by the Electric Aircraft Universe forums sometime and share his wisdom.
