Default Motor For Nigel Hawes Tornado

Hi

I am busy building this plane and was wondering if the AXI 2820/12 and a E-Flite 40 amp esc will be good for the model and a Li-po 3s1p battery to deliver about +- 30 Amps.

Hi,
Mine uses the AXI 2820/12 with 3S2P2000 lipoly. Speed controller gets hot though due to inadequate cooling. bill

Thanks for info.

where is your Battery situated in the aircraft? How many amps is your motor pulling? Could you not put the ESC in one of the Air intake on the fullsize?

Thanks Aidan

Mine has a 12 x 8 prop and draws about 30 amps on the bench. Hand launches into a steep climb, flies around on 70% power but the Speedcontroller gets very warm( after about 8 mins) . Batteries in rear behind backend of hatch toward servos to get C of G right. Meant to try 10 cell nicad but lipo lighter. Connected 2 x 3S2000 welgrade lipoly packs ( www.allelectricrc.co.uk ) each 20 amps contin. 30 max so 3s 4000 pack 40Amp contin. Also using 3s4000 pack from far east from "rc smart"
welgrade packs are £30 each but the pack from Rc Smart is only £29 including postage.
( 100.00 GBP United Kingdom Pounds = 1,151.80 ZAR South Africa Rand )
"RC Smart" <[email protected]> is his e-mail , sells on ebay as well but 10% discount direct.
I have a 3s4000 ( 10C ), 3s 3500 (12C) and 3s1700 ( 10C ) and am very happy with them.
Arrived within 2 days to England.
