Ultimate Bipe 40 conversion
I am in the process of building the great planes ultimate Bipe and am not sure which motor I should go with. The plane will weigh in around 5-6 pounds when complete. Does anyone know any information on "model" brushless outrunner motors, are there any that I could use in this application. If not I think something along the lines of the hacker B50 series would work but I can get a good discount on the model motors. Thanks for any help

RE: Ultimate Bipe 40 conversion
For the "model" motors I was considering something like the AXI 4120/18 which is designed for a plane from 3000-4000g or 6.6-8.8lbs
Thanks again for any help -John |
RE: Ultimate Bipe 40 conversion
I had the glow version. It was a little heavier than what you estimate as I recall. Since it is a bipe, really you can have enough powre on this beast. I would think about the 4130 instead of the 20 or a B50 11xl 5.2:1 or even a c50.

RE: Ultimate Bipe 40 conversion
What was the final weight of your plane? The 4130 is designed for planes from 12-16 pounds I am stuck between the 4120 and the 4130. The 4120 may be a little underpower, but I am planning to build very light. I'll just have to wait and see what happens. Thanks for your help.

RE: Ultimate Bipe 40 conversion
Well ,
it sems that only outrunner is Axi, but there is few very good ones from for eg Flyware(www.flyware.de) or Torcman (www.torcman.de) Axis seems to be less powerfull in matter of torque, Flyware & Torcman higher. On the highlight, Actro motors maybe the finest ones. Br, Hannu |
RE: Ultimate Bipe 40 conversion
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. ABSOULTLY the 4130! the 20 will `not be enough. I am putting one on my current project which is lighter and not an aerobatic plane and I think it will keep it in the air, but not much mroe than that. Concider a geared MEGA setup. Similar price and better performance. Those new Himaxx look tempting too. Ahhh so many options...so little time...
