That is a good looking plane. I flew the wings off of one of those way back when. It had a Magnum 25 in it. The plane did fly well with a Kraft 4 channel and jumbo servos.

Here are a couple of my J3 Cub I converted to E power.

Nice Cub Blvdbuzzard. Did the main wing break apart on your old Cessna? I did not trust Sureflite's instructions on just putting on a few strips of glass reinforced tape on the underside for added strength. I buried a hollow carbon fiber rod underneath the aileron servo wiring. I fly my Cessna like my warbirds.[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]How many cell pack are you using, what kind of motor, gear ratio and prop do you use? I fly mine on a nine cell GP3300 nim pack. The motor I chose to use is the Jeti Phasor 30-3 direct drive brushless swinging an APC 10X7E prop. The plane is fast, most of the time I am only using half throttle. I get about 10-12 minutes of flight time. I've got nine more Sureflite kits to convert, and I am thinking of going with some lipo's to save some weight. But a lipo pack of that capacity is quite expensive.

The power set up is a cheap one. I have a Magnetic Mayhem(r), GD600 gear box with the highest ratio, 12X6 APC E prop, 8,9,10 cell packs. The pack in the pic is a 9 cell 1400 mah nicd. I have a 10 cell 3000 nimh pack for it. I just don't have a charger that will charge it at over 1 amp. Even on the 1400 pack I can get 7 minutes.

The old one I had just did to many figure 9's. I used 2 inch wide fiber glass tape top and bottom and it was fine. If you look real close in the pic of my cub you can see the tape under the covering. it is the wrinkle next to the servo. I did not like the way the 21st Century fabric went on. It had a lot of bubbles and places it did not stick to the foam. If I was to do it again it would be done with Ultra Coat or the like.
