Another P51 Conversion (Herr's)
Hello Guys, after making 2 succesfull conversions (one to be proved):
SIG Hummer, to speed 400 6v, 11.1 v@ 1050 mah, sc electrify 20, 2 servos Hitec HS 81, 6x 3 prop, golden rod pushrods, hand thrown. Succesfull conversion, still flying (Great Model) My seccond conversion (Maiden Flight this weekend) Herr Aquastar, to speed 400 6V, 11.1v@ 1050 mah., sc electrify 20, 2 Servos Hitec HS 81, 6x 3 prop, kit's rigid pushrods, hand thrown. (I hope it flies as well) After the aquastar, I love the kits from Herr, and I decided to buy te P51 (Because everyone should have atleast 1). I'm starting the project during this month, and would like sugestions. I'm thinking of making the conversion with the following equipment: Motor Speed 480@ 7.2 V, geared 4.1 :1 Lipoly, 3 cells (11.1 V@ 1500 mah) ESC Electrify 30 (With the LVC I have, @ 8v) Servos, rudder and elevator cirrus CS 20 BB, Ailerons Hitec HS81 PushRods (Golden Rod) Without landing gear (I'm making a bungee) Prop 7x3. Any Good sugestion at this point would be great. |
RE: Another P51 Conversion (Herr's)
First suggestion, add at least 3" to your prop diameter and 3" to the pitch. A Speed 480 should easily be able to handle a 7x3 prop direct drive. With a 4.1:1 gear ratio, I'm almost thinking as large as 12x8.
How are those Speed 400s holding up on 3S LiPoly, especially with those big 6" props? I'm betting you probably don't get all that many flights out of them. If you don't mind changing them, that's okay. |
RE: Another P51 Conversion (Herr's)
Thankyou Matt;
Yes the speed 400 with at 11.1 v don't live quite long, but I need to give them that power, because I live at 2400 mts above sea level, thats about 7920 ft, and fly at nearly 3000 mts. I've tried with 2 cell Lipo, without good results. Never theless, I've flown witha speed 400@ 7.2v and 3 cell LiPo, arround 20 without any problem. Maybe with a speed 600 direct drive jumping to 2100 Mah, what prop would you recomend me with that motor. |
