Pattern plane conversion
 

Well the E-Focus II flew today with the help of many people and the articles on the conversion will be in the K-factor soon..
The motor and the new Castle Creations HV110 amp controller did a great job and Austin at MaxAmps.com did a super job with the batteries... I will write more here and in the K-factor but here are some quick pics...

why that many amps for the controller?Is it not an overkill?
These axi motors don't like too much high amps. This controller looks also rather heavy. A mere jeti 77A would not be enough?

Well the normal CC or Jetti controller can not handle the amount of volts.. This is the NEW HV 110 amp controller max input volt is 50 and I'm hitting 42 volts at the start of the flight.. The unit is absolutly cool to the touch after landing. There was testing done with the Jetti 77 and we had a burning plane upon landing.. The new Jetti 90 might have worked but ever since my friends plane landed with flames I wanted to stay with CC.
That AXI max amp rating is 75 from what I was told.. I'm pulling 69 amps and doing 2200 watts ... better than 200 watts/lbs turnnig 6250 rpm on a APC 18x12 E prop..

Scott, this is the first post I've read where someone is actually using one of the new CC HV controllers. Did you set it up with the Phoenix Link? Do you have any starting issues with the outrunner? How is the throttle response?

Nice plane and conversion! Interesting to see the big Axi and the new CC ESC.

What kind of battery are you using? All up weight and weight of the glow powered model??
