Venture 60 E power setup
 

I tried this post on another forum with no results, hope I can get some expert advice here! I have a Bruce Tharpe Venture 60 Electric just about built, and plan on using an AXI 4120/18 w/Jeti 70 amp controller. I have a TP600053 to go in it, but my Motocalc program suggests this might not be the best combination. I am looking for a good sport flyer w/aerobatic capability, not 3D. The plane weighs 58 oz w/o motor/controller/battery, and its wing loading is about 14 oz/sq foot. I don't want to try the TP6000 (it's brand new and not cheap!) until I am pretty sure it going to work, since I may need to return it for something else. Any help would be greatly appreciated. That should yeild you about 740 watts if run at 40a. The motor can peak at 55 amps for 30 seconds and that would put it in the 900watt range depending on the battery voltage. I estimate the plane AUW should be about 6.5 pounds. So that puts it at 115-120 watts per pound at peak. That would be very good Sport/Acrobatic performance.

Tweet..thanks, very good advice...my Venture 60 E was outfitted pretty much from the Hobby Lobby catalogue, with some help from the sales staff, some prior experience with much lighter planes. I got the Motocalc program, and that has also been helpful, in fact I thought I had too much battery with the tp6000. I'm also going to build a 4 star 40 (easier to transport) and plan on using the same power setup. Maybe use a smaller prop/different battery.
