What prop
 

I been looking at the electric props and I dont know if they will stay together.What kind of prop do you guys use? Wood ? regular props..I have a AXI4120/18 and going the be pulling fairly hard, 6s liPolys ,70 amp controler,4000mha battery pack so..
Use on planes from 6 to 10LBS.
Do you like and trust the Electric props?
Just looking for some thought here who know better then I.

Hi I have that same engine on a 1/5 scale PT-19 and am using 22.2 volts and swinging a 12 X 8 gray electric prop, no prob lems of any kind. Norm

I have the 4120/14 and use an APC 13 X 8E running on 4 cells. It pulls 55A. and I see 700W. on my AstroFlight Whattmeter.

The APC "E" series are very good props...much better for electric motors than props designed for glow engines because they are thinner (don't have to be over-designed to handle the pounding stresses of the power impulses of a piston engine, among other things )
They are much more efficient too, because the thinner blades cause less drag, and allow the motor's power to be translated into thrust, rather than heat.

Just curious...why do you think they might not hold together?
They are rather light looking ...thin blades, and less resistant to breakage if you have a ground strike.

I want to thank you all for the input here..Well, I must say ,yes the prop are slim and I just never have messed any with this type and thought I would try asking someone!!Cuss the high rPMs and pulling power putts all load on prop.
Let me ask one more thing,hows wood props work?Most likly about the same story as other props.
Ive been messing with glow since the late 60 but this electrics starting to look better for me..

Some wooden props should work, put one on and go fly, it won't hurt anything and it either will be better or worse. I can tell if I have the right prop in the first 4 feet of the take off roll. I know what acceleration the proper prop gives, it is very easy to tell. You can always tie a small scale to the tail and see how much pull each prop has but this won't tell you how the prop unloads in the air. Norm

Yes I was thinking about the same!! but it nice to recheck with others.
Iam looking forward to this electrric flight,Iam going to try a AXI4120/18 on a 4 star 60..using 4000mha lipolys and a jeti70 controler..humm,any thought?

that sounds like a good combo, You will be able to throttle back to 1/2 after take off which will give you long flight times. Norm
