Large EDF convesioin?
I have a large gas ducted fan plane which I would like to convert to EDF. The plane weighs about 10 pounds. Anyone install a EDF big enough to push that size jet? I know they are out there, but do they work well and are they reliable?

What you need are the 120 mm fans. You got the BVM Viofan, Jet Hangar E TUrbax, Air Power fan. That should give you about 10-14 lbs thrust on a 10S set up.

Sounds good. I haven't used a 120 mm fan only 90 mm fans to date. I will look into that setup.

Check out Tam jets plug and play DS-94 `120mm schubeler fan.
I have two of them and they are a work of art. Tams A-4 is 16 pounds setup for EDF. It's a turbine plane converted too edf. It sounds unreal.. very much like a turbine and does about 150 mph on 12s set... I have one in the shop to build after my cermark F-16 which is also a turbine plane. RC groups has alot of EDF info.. The hard part of your conversion is ducting.. the intake ducting on a EDF is very important.. you can use a cheater ring on the fan but it won't have the top speed like a full duct plane... I'm new too large EDF's but I'm learning fast let me know what I can do to help... good luck.. Ron look at his A-4 video ..in person it even more impressive.. great guy to deal with also http://www.tamjets.com/schubeler.php |
