Hard to find a setup that will work.
 

Ok guys i need some help here. I have a Pacific Aero Models 25% Katana that i won't to make electric. I am having problems finding a motor that will meet the specs that i need. Its 11-13 lbs. So 13 X 150 = 1950 watts, and i am going to use 10s or12s pack. But i am going to use the new A123 bat. to. So say I use 12s at 39.6 X 50 Amps = 1980 watts. Thats enough so i will need a 50 amp or higher motor to push this plane for 3D right.

I would like to push at least 2500 watts or more if i can. I need some suggestions.

I've had really good luck with [link=http://www.nitroplanes.com/mo1602brmo.html]these motors[/link] although I have tried one this big.....It appears that the voltage and current specs are within the area you're looking at. I noticed they are currently out of stock, so you'd need to contact them for availability......The price is right. The construction and performance is good. I have the .32, .46, and .60 size in planes, right now and have many flights on them. I'll be building a .90 size Extra 330 this winter, but haven't decided which motor size to use in it.....Pat

Try an Actro, maybe one in the 40-serie might do the job, but one of the 60`ies are guaranted to do a fantastic job! http://www.actro.de/de/allg/index.html
I have two of these myself, and I love them :D Far from cheap China-junk. My 40-5 do a nice job in a 2x2 F3A-model.

Thanks for the post guys, and i like the Actro numbers better. But what about the Axi 5345 has any body had a setup with this motor and what kind of numbers did you come up with. I just dont wont to short myself any power.

Have a look at the hyperion range. The larger models will easily handle the current. You really need a motor calc program. Motorcalc do a 30 day free trial which will help you. Try allelectricrc.co.uk for a vortex 63/62/286. I have no personal experience of these. A dualsky 63/60/ca12 from alshobbies.com might be a better bet...the specs are on their website.

I have a E-flite power 160 with a castle HV 85 20X11 APC E prop in a QQ 72 inch yak and It is unbelievable I have flown it for years with a os 120 supercharged (2.5 HP max) and now it is 3.9 HP and flies so much better. It does not even seam like the same airplane

I been running the DualSky 6063-12 on an 80" CAP 232 on 10S, its been good. Its best turning a prop of around 22x10 but you can get the 230KV one and turn a 20x10. Your plane is a 25% ... trust me something in the AXI5330-18 range with a 20x10 will suffice, no point going with a 5345 range as its heavier, that increases your wing loading and you will need to work on your CG again. Recently, I got the Hyperion motor for a smaller set up and I find the motor to be nice, love the quality and performance. If you want to dabble with low cost then DualSky motors are fine. Some of the F3A guys are flying in for competitions and they are very happy with its performance.
