Wanted :Rossi 60-61 Piston, Sleeves
I am looking for Rossi 60-61 piston and sleeves.
Last week on E-bay somebody had several of these listed, but I spaced it off and missed them.
If anybody happens to know that person and how to get ahold of them would you please let me know.
I am very intrested in buying some if they have any left.
Thanks, Roger

RE: Wanted :Rossi 60-61 Piston, Sleeves
I have a new spare sleeve/piston for a rossi 60 or 61, they are not all the same, mine was purchased on ebay and it does not fit my rossi. Maybe it will fit yours? Do you know the measurements of the sleeve you need for your engine?

Mike, Roger,
The .60 engine is a side-exhaust, while the .61 is a rear-exhaust.
Also, the side-exhaust .60 is under-square (i.e. Long Stroke), having a bore of 22.7mm and a stroke of 24.4mm.
I believe the .61 is over-square, so the parts are hardly interchangeable.
There are also exhaust orientation mods...

RE: Wanted :Rossi 60-61 Piston, Sleeves
Mike,
It must be an ABC piston, sleeve set
The OD of the sleeve is 1.102
lenght of the sleeve is 1.760
Top of sleeve to top of Exhaust port .782
Bottem of Exhaust port to top of Exhaust port .250
Sleeve flange thickness .085 (Larger diameter on top of sleeve)
If what you have matches these dimension I think it will work.
If you could maybe you could send me some pics.
My E-mail is [email protected]
Thank you, Roger

RE: Wanted :Rossi 60-61 Piston, Sleeves
Dar Zeelon,
I have a Rossi 60 side exhaust and Rossi 61 rear exhaust. Both of these engines are short stroke and both have the same .940
bore. The OD of the sleeves on both is the same 1.102
Because rossi does not have any cut outs in the piston skirt (Sum do but most do not) The piston and sleeves will interchange between side and rear exhaust as long as both engines are short stroke or long stroke.
Roger

Roger,
There is more than one version of the Rossi 10 cc engine.
The bore and the stroke which I quoted, are for the 240R60E version.
It is definitely an under-square engine (what's known as 'Long Stroke') and it has bolt-through exhaust mounting.
The .61 RE engine offered until lately, was an over-square, high RPM engine; probably like the one that you own.
I know you are probably used to the Imperial system, but all European engines have nominal dimensions in millimeters.
And yes, I do believe the piston may interchange between side and rear-exhaust versions of the same stroke... But other parts may not and the sleeve is one of them.
You must make sure the spare P+L that you get, fits your particular engine.

Dar Zeelon,
I am sure that you a correct about not all parts being interchangeable.
I was mostly talking about the two rossis I have, One side exhaust, one rear exhaust, and between them
the crank, rod, wrist pin and piston and sleeve will interchange.

You are correct. Once a engine has been run you would not want to change the orintation of the piston to the sleeve.
I was refering that if you were rebuild a engine, you could use the piston, sleeve as a side or rear exhaust.

I guess you are right about these particular parts in the over-square .61 SE and RE engines.
But the newer 240R60E SE engine is different...
Your current engines' parts will not fit into it, nor would the current engine's part fit into your engines.
You should take that into account, when looking for the items that you need.
