Super Tigre 90 problem
I recently got a Super tigre G90 and I have noticed a lot of vibration. The engine feels like it has more vibration than most engines at low and mid throttle. It fires smoothly at mid throttle, but at full throttle it sounds very very rough with tons of vibration and tries to break free from whatever it is mounted to. I have balanced the propeller, but the vibration continues. How can I fix this problem? Maybe the shaft was balanced badly, or it is firing much too early, or I have it tuned wrong? Please help soon, thanks.

RE: Super Tigre 90 problem
Hi
I have always heard that the S/T 90s had that problem from guys I knew who had them. Check for bent Crank, and a good balance of the prop. Still vibrates, its the just the way that motor is I guess.

Thanks, that is what I was afraid of. It is new, but if it vibrates this bad I guess I'll sell it. I got it for a 3D plane (a really lightweight airframe) that shakes apart from the engine.

RE: Super Tigre 90 problem
Some engines tend to vibrate more when new and before they have been run in. I would use a engine test stand and run a few tanks of fuel through it first, before mounting it on a plane. Also make sure the prop is balanced too. A out of balance prop will make even a really good engine look bad and vibrate a lot.

With that kind of nitro, the engine has a lot of pre-ignition at full throttle. It is built for 0% to a max of 5% nitro. Put at least two extra shims (0.4mm) under the head if you think you must keep using that fuel.
AND, like other posters indicated; If an engine vibrates badly at elevated rpm, the prop is out of whack. Balance it, check prop symmetry, mounting hole in the middle? blade angles both the same?

RE: Super Tigre 90 problem
Go buy a new prop first, they are cheap. At least that will eliminate that as a problem. I have a nice 90, but it wasn't really coming into it's own until a least a gallon+ of 15% (I fly at 2500 ft.)
It is a keeper, very reliable and almost bullet proof! I think time and patience will solve your problem.

Your vibration could be from detonation. Try lower nitro, colder plug, or smaller prop. Since it is trying to brake the mount and it could be vibrating because it is tight and needs breaking in, I would favor the smaller prop.

It is a really nice engine when broken in, maybe not my first choice for 3D as it is more of a puller than a rever', my 2 cents. Mine is Chinese but runs as well as any Italian ST I have owned.

RE: Super Tigre 90 problem
Hi I have one and it doesnt vibrate anymore than normal. I use %10 nitro and have no probs. Maybe the old ones dont tolerate nitro but the newer ones are ok. Try a balanced propand see how you go .There a good engine like the rest of the supertigre range that I have anyway. Cheers the pope
