Default Help - Bearing Replacement OS 50SX-H

I am trying to replace the bearings in my OS 50 SX-H. The engine is disassembled to the point of removing the piston. The cylinder liner is removed. I cannot get the connecting rod off the crank pin. I try pulling it off at TDC and get about half way but then it just binds. Is there some trick I am missing?

Make sure the rod is sliding on the wrist pin, hit it with some WD40 and make sure it slides back and forth.

www.raptortechnique.com has a step by step bearing change tuturial if you need it.

I got it out finally. The rod was not slipping on the piston wrist pin. It took me hours - hardest part of the whole job. Rear bearing was shot.

Now that it is back together I wonder if I should have replaced the rings. Compression does not feel that great. I am new at rebuilding engines, but it is interesting work.

A soaking with glow fuel may have freed up the wrist pin in the beginning. Sometimes, using a twist-tie on the bottom end of the con rod will get it to slide off the pin.

The SX is a pretty good engine. I would run it first and see how your bearing installation wears in and maybe compression is still good.

Sounds like you had fun.
