Default saito 45 MKII cover

I have managed to brake the carb attach tab on my back cover of my 20+ year old brand new in the box 45MK2. I'm going to need a new cover. Does anyone know where I might go and get one ordered? I have found a few saito parts sites, but they don't have one that matches my carb mount.

Help and suggestions welcome...

Thanks
Phil

Really not looking to add another engine to my parts drawer yet. Hoping for a new or used cover or a repair idea at this point.

If you still have the broken tab, why not just JB Weld it in place?

Still hoping to find someone with a spare cover. I saw in another thread a couple years back that someone else had this same issue. They had attemped to repair it with JB weld but it would not stick or for some other reason the repair failed.

You could file down what's left of the tab on the cover flush and mount a piece of aluminium angle across the top two screws. A bit of 2 or 3mm angle should be easy to cut down and look reasonable - just leaving a wide enough tab for the carb bolt. Longer screws in the top cover holes and away you go.

A bit of 5*5 say square bar would also do it.

I think there are some options there with some hand tools and a little time.

Is it this bit that's broken off?

Dawg, that's a great idea, with a little creativity a bar could be fit across the top bolts as you said, a tab could easily be bent to fit under the carb tab into the notch and voila. I leave all JBWeld in the store that sells it, that stuff is pure unadalterated junk and any fix using it is just too ugly for me.

Now there is is an outstanding idea! Yes that is the broken piece. I will pick up some aluminum on Monday and give it a go.

I have the same sentiment toward the JB.

If JB Weld doesn't hold for you then you are not mixing, using enough, or applying it correctly. There is no reason why it would not hold that AL piece forever.

I have used it a few times, with excellent results. It's all about the surface prep. It must be clean and roughed up. I have fixed rc carbs, and even the oil pan on a late model stock car. If there's surface area, and it's not super hot it works for some applications quite well.
