Just ordered this PDP .61 from Lee Custom MFG. Mr. Lee mentioned the castings were 'new designs'. I have not seen the 3 fin case on a k&b 61 or the pinch bolt carb mount. Is MECOA revising the #6550? Wonder what's coming down the pipeline. No backplates were available so Mr. Lee hand made these from bar stock, would not allow me to pay extra for the marchine work. What a class act. I hope they remain around for years to come. That guy is the real deal. Has any one seen these castings before? Could be from old K&B tooling. Also the glow plug is not K&B or doesn't look like any I have seen. Almost looks like a Fox stunt plug with machined idle bar, not welded like K&B's I'm familiar with.

I'd Iike to break this one in using 5% Nitro w/ castor and see how it flies first. I'm out of that brew right now and LHS only sells 15% Omega. Is this a little hot to start with? Would probably add 6oz of castor to that.

Hmm, I got one a few years ago from him, and it looks just like yours, except the carb is an older style aluminum one with a remote needle valve. It has what looks like to me a K@B plug, and it is stamped "Lee Custom" on the mounting flange. I haven't been able to bring myself to run it, I have it on the shelf in my study, and I admire it from time to time.

You guys got me curious so I checked my 3. Sure enough same three rib case and pinch carb mounting. I only have one of the machined backing plates, the other two have OEM K&B backing plates. I ordered mine a little over a year ago.

I know the feeling. Now I have 2 boys and they want to tinker and fly too. The littlest one keeps getting into my collection of engines. I love watching this so I'll probably end up running it. Anything to keep them off the video games. We got some enya 40's as well to plop in a trainer. I love the engines just as much if not more than flying.

109' did you ever get one of yours running? What RPM's are you getting? He isn't doing the bored out muffler anymore so I wonder if they might be down a few hundred rpm. I actually ordered 2 as well. Both are identical. Are you using idle bar plugs on these?
also, Lee mentioned K&B was out of carbs. With that I opted for Perry 9300 pumper carbs on both.
