Hi

I am looking for a 11cc or 7.5cc CMB engine in good condition, if possible complete with header and pipe.

Kind regards

I need an engine for my rc boat. I already have 15cc engines (CMB 91 RS) but they are too powerful for the hydro hull I am building.

You might have better luck finding an OPS or Novarossi.

No, I d'like to stick with CMBs. I know these engines fairly well.

Is there another forum in the US where I might be luckyer with my request?

International waters perhaps. intlwaters.com

The problem with CMB is they don’t have great distribution in the US. I think they still make some, but they’re still hard to get your hands on. I’ll bet that RC boat racing web forums are your best bet if you’re not willing to deal with eBay or do your own homework elsewhere on the internet.

back in the late 80s and into the 90s I had 2 OPS 90s and a 45 too, had a Picco 90 too (all Boat Engines),,,

I tell you, if you can find an OPS in good shape in the size you want for a good price, I tell you to buy it, OPS has been refining them for more than 35 years, they are fantastic engines !!

And OPS was made/designed by one of the Picco boys thus the P in OPS.

I have tried OPS, the new OPS 20 with 18.5 cc. I have bought seven of them but haven't come to terms with them. A lot of vibrations, less power than CMBs and not reliable enough.

I have exchanged all of them for CMB91RS. More power, less vibrations, a lot easier to finetune (better carb) and totally reliable.

I am running a Picco 11cc, too, wich works fine. But I think not as powerful as a CMB 11cc.

And I am running MHZ nitro twins and a nitr v-six cylinder which are - after the necessary mods - reliable and easy to drive, too.

CMBs are expensive but worth every cent. And easily available directly from the factory, including spares.

all I can say is I know OPS held many records in Boat strait line speed trials in the US back in the late 80s early 90s

Without some side by side rpm readings, comparing engines with the words “I think” shows there is no basis for your claim. Picco, OPS, CMB, Rossi, Novarossi, and others are ALL highly regarded in the speed circles as powerful engines. Some have faults where other do not... But that isn’t to say one should be overlooked because it vibrates a little more or whatever. If CMB was/is so great and so easy to get, why come on this forum asking where to find them or if someone has one to sell or whatever exactly your prerogative is...

Sorry, if I hurt some feelings. That wasn't my intention. I came to this forum because I hoped there would be 7.5 or 11 cc engines for sale. That's all. I am not a sale representative of CMB. And we did compare the OPS 20 (18.5 cc) with the CMB101RS (16 cc) . In two Sigma 51 under same conditions. So I think what I am talking about.

But that is not the subject of this thread. I was looking for an engine. But that does not seem tonwork.

Because this is a discussion forum. Instead, you should look to the “Buy&Sell” section accessible via the top of the forum page.

But you still didn’t answer my question.. If CMB engines were so easy to get directly from CMB, why come to a discussion forum looking for an engine? Why not contact CMB directly?

And I don’t believe there are any feelings hurt at all. I just think people need to be a little more concise with what they’re intentions are and ensure they’re looking in the right place. After all, the heading of this forum where this thread is posted is “glow engines” and it says “discussion of RC glow engines” for its description. Perhaps you may have better luck posting in the boat section too, but this whole forum is pretty dead.

Save yourself time. Just go here. http://www.cmb-motori-italia.com/Eng...0-%20home.html

I did your google search for you. Took 10 seconds.

Okay, I'll try the other forum.

As far as the CMB Homepage is concerned I know it since long. I am ordering all spares directly there as there is no distributor in my country.

But I am not looking for a new engine. I am looking for a used one. I thought that was obvious. Sorry, if it wasn't.

While it’s likely a cultural and lingual barrier; I find your prerogatives very odd. Good luck with your search.

that is one cool boat, and a V6 to boot ( < a figure of speech)

you know, back in the 90s the wife's cousin gave me a water cooled Kawasaki 60cc MX'er engine, but I never got it a hull for it

In Europe there are plenty of people running 50 cc engines in boats of 5 to 6 feet long. But two QDs are a lot faster. That is one of my next projects, by the way: Conversion of a 6 feet hull from 50cc Polini to 2 x 30.5 cc QD.

An 80cc Zenoah produces - from what I have found out - 6 hp, two QDs produce together about 17 hp.

The characteristics of plane engines differ a lot from boat engines: For boats we need a lot of hp and high revs. For plane engines you seem to need high torque. The 80 Zenoah revs 7'500 (recommended rpm) and QD up to 20'000 ....

that's crazy

yes I know, along with my glows I also had gas boats,,, but I didn't want the kind of speed from my gas boat that it needed a 20,000 RPM engine

BTW,
1) my 2 OPS 90s were in a 64" off shore Cigarette
2) 1 Zenoah in a 54" 3D V "Ruff Stuff" oval racer (3D is the brand's name)
3) the other Zenoah was in a 3D "Tunnel Vision" Tunnel Hull, as I remember it was 42" long
4) my OPS 45 was in a 3D 42" V "Ruff Stuff" oval racer
5) I never put mt Picco in a boat

the 3D brand boats held some straight Timed Trials records back in the 80s, LOL well as I was told,, Tom Daniels from Port Huron Michigan "was" the owner/founder of 3D boats
