Enya 45 cxl rear exhaust
I inherited a enya 45 cxl rear exhaust with a header and long tuned pipe. Am asking for information about this engine ? Find info on 45's but not on rear exhaust with a pipe. Thanks

My Feedback: (1)
I don't know much about that engine, but for most their are 4 types of people that use that type of rear Ex engines.
1) racing,
2) record speed trials.
3) pattern flying.
4) for the person that just wants to go fast.
as for today true racing engines and speed trials engines are very high quality engines, yet they have been around a long time. I would bet that engine of yours is a Patten engine, or was used just for Zipping around.

Send a PM to Downunder. He might have more information for you. Rear exhaust Enyas are pretty uncommon - IIRC, Brian has a few FIRE Enya engines.
Rear exhaust engines are more streamlined. That’s all. Identically timed engines in side and rear exhaust will run the same. Rear exhaust engines do not run faster than side exhaust despite the myth that they do.

In fact, they might even be a touch slower, because the windage of the crank and rod has a slight influence on the scavenging, and that would be slightly more symetrical in side exhaust engines. Strictly theoretical, because I think that effect is only marginal.

Thanks, I read the Saito forums ( RCG and RCU ) and gather lots of good info. Not interested in flying the Enya, was given the engine (no previous Enya's ) so needed some feedback from the experts. Maybe plan on trading it for a Saito down the road. Thanks
