It is not as strange as it would seem, because the European market is about 3 times larger than the US market, therefore 3 times more budget to develop specialized oils.
In their core, the oils as used for glow engines.are derived from refrigerant compressor oils. In the US the market for Airconditioning is larger than that of Europe, but the market for glow fuels is smaller.

That you have never seen a peeled OS, well, it IS possible, I guess. But trust me, they DID (and do) peel, also in Europe.

They run great, right up until they do peel though. Best to replace an OS engine on a schedule.

A premium priced engine should never peel regardless of what oil is used. There have been liners that peeled on all castor oil fuel, so the idea castor will save an OS from peeling is BS too. Whatever the case, the topic is Force versus OS. In that case, Force wins the day. If the carb sucks, put a ST carb on it and some good high speed bearings and you have a barn burner leaving the OS in the dust.

If you think OS airplane engines have a limited lifespan, try spending $500 on a buggy engine and only get one season from it. add to that some guys sending the engine out to be modified, then broken in with the snake oil EBIS system and they have nearly a grand into a single season engine.

If I may be so sneaky: Put an OS carb on it... OS' reputation is basically entirely due to their carbs, making their engines run so nice...

I favor OS carbs myself, 4D 7D especially. No mods necessary to get them to work.

Related reading. Gives a more balanced view of how rare liner peeling occurs.
Have you had an O.S. engine peel its cheap nickel liner :(
Under a good tune, sport flying habits and not pushing limits, finding a peeled liner, is extremely rare.

Can you make a OS Max 61...

The O.S. max .46 axii was introduced during 2012 so it's been around for at least 10 years, anybody have anything good/bad to say about it?

There is a great deal of information regarding the history of OS engines peeling, online.
Example: Have you had an O.S. engine peel its cheap nickel liner :(

Yep. noted but specifically the 46axii?

The thread you refer to is from 2006, the 46axii was only introduced 6 years later.

Sorry but I do not know the specific answer to your question, I provided just one example. There is a wealth of information available, one only has to use Google to find relevant information. You may be able to answer your own question.

Fairly new OS 46AX Liner Peel..

Chances are that if you don't get the specific result (answer) you are looking for then it may mean that its not a problem with the 46axii version
