I just recieved my new magnum .91 four stroke and it has four nipples on it. One on the muffler and one on the carb and one on the crancase with one extra on the intake pipe? Am I suposed to hook that up to the crancase or what? This is My first four stroke so I am confused?!?! Any help? Thanks Dan

At that point don't they become Teets?

My .61 only has three; Muffle, crankcase and of course fuel intake.

what do the instructions say?

The one on the intake goes to the crankcase vent, the one on the muffler to the tank, and you know where the one on carb goes.

I kinduf wondered if the wording of my question would gather those kind of responses, sorry, and Thanks Hobbsy. I figured that that's the only place it would hook up but the instructions said nothing and I would rather be safe than sorry! I appreciate your patience and quick responses, Thanks Dan

Nothing to be sorry about - I relish the opportunity to say something stupid.

What's nice about the intake pipe to crankcase vent setup, is that your model doesn't get as fuel soaked inside the cowl or cheek area and you don't need to run a vent line outside that area to prevent this. Now, when you think about this, you are recirulating used oil back into the intake area. Don't know how this effects combustion effeciency, since we are slightly diluting the intake charged with scavenged fumes and oil particles. If I was really worried about optimum power, one would think about capping the intake nipple and just using it for after-run oil layup and using the case vent like all the other models, vented outside the cowl and could also be used to put after-run directly into the case area. We can certainly make this complicated if we really think about it, instead of following the manufacturer's directions. Never had a problem doing it the way, as long as the muffler nipple went to the tank vent and the clunk fed line went to the carb. Now if you really want confusion, go buy a 4 stroke with a pump!! Have fun, fly 3D.

So the crankcase line goes back into the intake? This is good.

If you think that's something, you should see the instructions for inverted flight for the OS .70 FL fourstroke. You have a vent tube in the bottom and the top of the tank. Page 20 of the manual which is in PDF so you can't copy and paste it, at least I can't.

Hobbsy didn't mention that on the 40L, the crankcase vent goes to a second tap on the muffler. The tank pressure line from the muffler is tee'd to go to a right side up and a upside down vent on the tank.

Back to the Magnum, They seem to run the same whether the crankcase vent is connected to the intake or the breeze.

Enjoy,

Jim

one suggestion... during breakin dump the crankcase oil overboard, don't connect it to the intake until the engine has at least a gallon. With less then that, you are not only dumping oil out, but also small metal particles from breakin, exactly what you do NOT want in the intake!

So if I have it disconected, should I Plug the port in the intake or is it ok to just let it breath a little air?

Don't mean to butt in here but...yes, cap the intake nipple or you'll have a vaccum leak big time! Cheers...
