To divert people OLD FART how are you getting on with all that wind and rain in the west. If you need it I have just the place to store all those Saitos away from the wind and fury

Hello trev how are you.We've got plenty of wind over here but none of it is backwash off a saito fourstroke prop this weekend i reckon.Big cyclone up north moving down here and the first drops of rain in two months,we look forward to it.I've just finished two solid weeks of painting a few new harley streetglides,you won't believe it i've painted every chromed piece(41 on each bike)vivid gloss black and the tinware is denim black...same colour as those cheap open faced helmets,am i losing my mind or just confused ?

What primer and paint did you use to paint the chrome? Every time I have tried the paint almost slides off the chrome. Thanks.

Yep, 883R with only 10k on the ODO. I bought the bike for $3000 in 2012 with only 450 miles on the clock, put some V&H pipes and a Corbin seat on it, and did a carb rejet. Love my Sportster!

I wanted to today but the field is too fricking soft to drive to. It is actually at the end of a grass runway that you have to drive down to get to, and its too soft yet.

Give the chrome part a serious de grease and scuff lightly with a foam backed piece of 240 grit.Spray a light coat of single or 2 pack epoxy wet on wet etch primer and then apply a topcoat as carefully as you did the primer.The etch i use is a wattyl brand single pack super etch that goes over galv,brass,aluminium,chrome etc,have used it reliably for years.

Yes sir, I could but where would I put the pin stripes, the 1.00 twin is on its way and I am excited. It should be here Monday. It's an earlier version, full report coming. The first thing it will get is two Fox Miracle plugs.

1) Use 2 pickups & 2 modules as pictured. Here is the rub W/that setup. While you may set the timing on The starboard cylinder by rotating the magnet ring, the port cylinder may or may not be in time. You will most likely need an adjustable pickup to properly time the 2nd cylinder. Just like the dual point distributors that were used on the '63-'64 Panheads & Limey bikes prior to '70. 1 cylinder was timed by rotating the distributor or backing plate, the 2nd by adjusting the gap of the points. At least 1 of your pickups will need to be adjustable. Not an insurmountable issue, but it will add to the complexity some
2) Purcase the uneven firing twin sytem from C&H. It will have a N/S pickup & N/S magnets precisely located @ 180°. The module for the uneven firing twins will sequence the timing for the proper cylinder due to the N/S firing circuits. This is by far the simplest, lightest option & cheaper in the long run if you must purchase new components.

Off topic for this thread - I know - but is there anywhere one can get plans for building your own landing gear?
I've asked around a few other traps but came up with a big fat nought.
I'm chasing some LG for a TopFlite FW190.
Thought some of you clued-up guys might be able to point me in the right direction maybe?

Here is one of Tommy's, (KMOT)'s creations, an early .45. My guess is that he used stainless screws. I'll go back and get the link to the page where these pictures appear.

The1.00 twin is here, too late to run today, I'm taking my wife to Mount Vernon Hospital tomorrow for an Ultra Sound, about 75 miles. Well see how time works out. It has not been run, the valve stems and heads are shiny and clean. I pulled the back plate the interior is all shiny too and while I had it off I made sure the right airbleed screw was dead center, it faces the rear and is all but invisible.

I am surprised that none of you sharp eyed Saitoists noticed that the airpump is missing from this engine. Clarence Lee noted this in his last test of the 1.82. A good move when you consider that the by pass gasses are going to vent the crankcase anyway. The right cylinder has a standard cam cover installed when the pump was removed.
