If you click on 4ST Engines you will find the FA-30 at the bottom of the list of engines.

You post should have stated " Does any one know if the Saito company has a web site. I
have not been able to find one". You make the definitive statement that Saito company does not have a web site.

Vert you could put the 30 in an electric pheonix rainbow, heaps of horsepower you should rip a 10x6 mas on the bench.
Barry that was a good link i did'nt know my fg57 had been updated, any thoughts sr? the two jaw puller has CrV cast into the side of the jaws bought it years ago can't remember where or why.
ps here's a picture of me bench running a new saito just after i'd jumped backwards and dropped the tacho

Good morning Richard, no sir, I have two plain Jane .30's but both have the cylinders painted black, the 1st by William Robison and the second by me. WR did that for a joke when he borrowed my .30 for his Saito notes. He only kept it for 6 months. I thought I might have to pay ransom to get it back. This is the second .30 on an LT 25 that was a gift from my cousin in western Pa.

The Rainbow, what a piece of crap as an electric, however with the Saito 30 we found it to be a bit fast even de pitched, but with an OS 20 four stroke it works well. On a model for the 3o a nice 65% Bomber, 75% Lanzo racer of a Megow Flying Quaker are good prospects and get you back to basics with your flying.

Your FA-120 ABC converted to gas would have about the same power as an FA-91S on GI.

If your plug is too hot you enrich the mixture to quench the plug and retard the timing, as you do you the engine will pick up speed. Being rich of peak does not mean you are at the optimal mixture, rather it is a compromise between mixture and timing. If it is too rich it will smoke heavily. If you were too switch to a cooler plug you will find that it will now pick up RPM when you lean the mixture. If it is the correct heat it will have more RPM than with the hot plug and will not smoke as much. You will have more power and better fuel economy. You cannot truly properly tune an engine without trying several glow plugs.

Trev did you fly the 30 in a rainbow?just asking because for me it was quick as on a 6 pitch to the point of twitchy at full bore level or banked and went vertical.Clean no struts airframe and so slippery,i'll bet you a carton of hooligan soup (aussie for out of control, also means emu export, which i wish they had exported)that it lands as slow as you could jog across the airstrip mate
the 30 is the ideal nose weight.Did i mention it would go vertical fully stalled on approach?
ps newsflash!! just to hand(in an ed sullivan show intro voice)is a picture of the pope running a 40os(hic) fourstroke in

There are/were 2 different versions of the FG-57. My take is that the improvements were for cooling given the much higher operating temperatures of gas compared to methanol. The newer FG-57S has a heat sink applied to the bottom of the crankcase.
Thanks i thought that heat sink was a box for the ignition system.I run a shallow chin plate under the fg57 so would be major surgery to make way for the heat sink bolt on.
Don't mean to be rude richard and don't feel stupid,no such thing as smart phones

In fact, that's the kit mine is going in. I was lucky enough to run across a NIB GK version. The 4*20 is about half built as Sig designed it mostly with electric in mind, so some changes had to be made. I needed an access cover to the fuel tank. I don't like torque rods so I added an aileron servo in each wing. The Saito 30 is too long for the cowling, so I had to build out the nose almost 1 1/2 inches. I also added counterbalances for the elevators and rudder.
I'm not much into high wing planes anymore, but I considered the LT-20 at first. They're just too expensive. They were $125 a year or so ago. Too much for a small kit so I passed until I saw the 4*40.
