I bet the saito 100gk revved it's nuts off with a 14x6 acdc 
and your outlook on running and flying saitos is same as mine,very enjoyable.
Dave just to prove i don't "have a bad attitude" to harleys i went for a ride with ten of them today on my duke.Younger guys up to 45 on hotted up vrods etc painted matt black and not carrying any luggage unless attitude can be weighed.These things will light the rear tyre up in third gear but seem allergic to corners or kinks come to that.I've got a question for you.How do you get a valve back into the airbox?? by the time we turned around and got back the bike was parked off the road and a valve head was sitting on the seat,my mate took a pic and i'll post it.

Yep OF it spun up over 10K on the bench. I kept it to 3/4 throttle just to be safe. Looks like I need to replace the bearings in my second 100, it feels a bit rough, either that, or they are just gunked up.

Pope you ever seen a shark chase somebody on land? The OZ attitude to our "dangerous fauna" is reflected around with people having the same attitude to their nasties as we have to ours. Engines for the SIG Citribria model is same as GP version and a 50 worked well for me in Malaysia so a 56 should fit well and operate scale like at about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle.

Popey you got to start sharing that stuff around brother,then we'll both get to thinkin we've met years earlier on the walton show,i can hear that old clapboard house creakin already.
Refitted the 14oz fuel tank back behind the saito,it slipped back because the 82 powers that little deccy real good,on a good day it will sit vertical and i'd forgotton to tie the fuel tank down so it leaned off a fair bit and after that it was a reduced throttle touchdown.

Pete- I ran across that video and since he was following Ducatis I chose it. If you search for Ducatis you can find some very wild rides. I was surprised when I saw the power they have. I'm very impressed. On the flip side with the S2000, I thought the driver was a bit lame. If I find a better video I'll post it.
About your prop painting- are you airbrushing the wood patterns on the props? I have a Saito 30 GK coming up for service in a 4*20, but no way on using a wood prop.

I thought the driving was ok he had a fair bit of understeer to contend with,but to be fair i've never rated myself as a car driver,i run out of talent quick.For woodgrain patterns i used to dapple them with a fine dagger liner brush and then smoke/feather the grain out sometimes with the airbrush.Part of our custom painting business includes the hydro dipping/water transfer method now so it's quicker for me to do custom woodgrain like that now and touch any faults up with a brush or airbrush,easy peasy nowadays.Sometimes customers insist on a gloss finish,i always try to talk them into satin or flat as a last resort,it's not nice trying to look at a shiny bit of woodgrain whether it really is timber or not.
Dave so far the bike has been trailered back home and will be stripped down this weekend.This is what i know so far..it's a 2012 harley streetbob with a screamin eagle kit which takes the 103 cube out to 110,for what that cost him he could nearly have bought a factory 120r motor and bolted that straight in,150 horses they say.Anyway so far no one knows which valve head shot back thru the throttle body but it sure rattled round on the way thru there before it lay down to sleep in the airbox.

I have never considered wood graining a composite prop but then again I prefer wood props. I have put a wood grain finish on entry doors so it would probably be pretty easy t do a prop. Its a matter of the care you take more than anything else. I agree with you O.F. about a glossy finish on wood, it doesn't look right, I could see putting on a couple of coats of glossy so you could cover it over with Satin to give it a deeper looking finish but that's about it. I remember seeing imported Italian furniture over here for a while with a glossy finish, it made it look cheap!

Sam, you just aren't trying hard enough! ;-) My wife claims I can't do a project without bleeding. Don't tell her but that is closer to the truth than I want to admit.

A hand rubbed lacquer finish though can't be beat. Has depth to it, retains a gloss, but not too glossy to look like plastic like Poly does. I tried a French Polish using Shellac, man is that a PITA to get right.

But it is not limited to just planes acourse. I replaced a fence that fell down. last month. I hammered my left middle finger. Oh wow it hurt. I got sick to my stomach it hurt so bad.
Next day I decided to do it again, same blasted stupid finger. I rather loudly threatened to cut it off if it could not learn to stay out of the way. Heard my wife inside the house cracking up. That did not help.
And then I HIT THE SAME FINGER AGAIN THE NEXT DAY. HOLY CRAP!!.
It has been nearly a month and I still only have partial feeling in the finger. May just have done some nerve damage. Would not be the first time I caused partial nerve damage.
I did not cut off the finger. Wife forbade me. So did mom.
Fortunately I seldom do serious damage.

Thanks for the painting secrets. Those are really beautiful props that should be sold for static viewing at contests. Have you thought about selling them?

Having pride in what you do is good for most people but not me,my ego tends to grow alongside it until i become plain arrogant.It's about that time period while riding your motorcycle that you get flicked over the bars in a giant flying doubleyou (W),it's the time it takes to land that i hate most.And that's why motorcycles are so good barry,compromise and threaten her with a vespa scooter and sidecar attachment mate

I have an extra stump puller if anybody needs it. One season of flying, just over a gallon of YS20/20 thru it. I will most likely never get to that giant twin I have dreams about, so one of them is enough. I am not going to put it on the "for sale" page just yet. I thought I would give the Saito fans first chance.

Hey Pete, my chainsaw has been very busy for the last week, I brought home another trailer load today that has not been stacked yet. There is still more on the patio to be cut in 25" lengths. Some of the black walnut would make some fine lookin props.
I wish I could afford that 2.20, they are great engines.

Yes black walnut looks awesome in rifle stocks too.Don't re post the picture of that stack of firewood again..popeys greeny outlook/sensibilities will be inflamed.
Jeff it's a shame you are selling the 220 they have a nice deep bark on 10% and a little crackle to go with the bark on 25%.
ps dave i know some young guys who won't cut that much wood.

I love the sound also, as I have one in my 1/4 scale DVII. A great motor for that plane. The only problem is that when a gasser starts up and gets air born, I can't hear the Saito. Its too quiet sometimes.
